Lone Wolf 15 - It Is In!

hello, I'm one of the original mega-deal customers and still haven't received my book 15 (live in California). I was wondering after how much time has passed should I get worried? Is there anyway I can contact mongoose and get a tracking number for my book, or get confirmation that the book has indeed shipped? (I'll update if/when I receive the book) Thanks!

... They really should send out a mailer to Mega Deal customers each time a new book is released with an ETA based upon customer's location. Its so easy to do: a simple spreadsheet of names, addresses, and emails then send a bcc email to everyone on the list as and when required.

Something so straightforward would alleviate many concerns - exactly the type this patient (but concerned) gent is having.

I would already be much happier if they could just improve the quality of their proof-reading. It is atrocious. If I had to submit documents with the same number of errors to my boss - never mind to publish to paying customers - I would get sacked on the spot.

Maybe that's when you got them but I sure didn't. Most of the dates you posted are at least 2 months earlier than I received them. I sure didn't get Books 8-10 (or any set of three books) over a two month period. I still don't have Book 15 and don't expect too until the end of May at the earliest. One person posting that they got the book in their mailbox is not an "actual delivery date".

I've received all of them within 2 weeks of those dates.

For later books (after the started to use US printers) the reports I've seen from people in US and Canada suggests that they got about the same time.

And prior to that they stated that they had increased the amount of staff working on Lone Wolf so that this specifically wouldn't happen. We can see how well that worked out.

I can agree that the high release rate of the new publications is somewhat unsettling. New books are produced significantly faster than the existing Lone Wolf material is being republished. Seems there is a new book almost every other month, but rarely anything for the mega-deal customers lately.

Which did not happen. Things got worse, significantly so, after this announcement.

It could hardly get worst than 11 months between two books.

From the list of actual publications I can agree with the assessment that most people involved in Lone Wolf are doing new publications.

This is purely conjecture. I'm curious as to what, in Mongooses entire publication history as a company, would lead you to believe this wildly optimistic viewpoint.

Things might be pushed off for delays but so far it has reached us eventually.

On the contrary, I know the next book will not be in a week.

And how exactly do you know that with no advance publication dates being announced? This is just a guess.

I disagree completely. The worst customer is one who nevers says anything about crappy service; instead, they validate that bad service through their silence. What's the impetus for a company to improve when some of it's worst customer service is greeted with a a pat on the back?

Complain about the past track record. Not the future track record.

The former is fact. The latter is conjecture.

Except that their own stated purpose of their "planning" was to improve the delivery date releases; not make it worse.

Around the delivery of book 13 there was no promises on improving delivery rates. In fact there was some announcements that spring that the next books would take longer in the coming due to new materials.

Unfortunately, publication rate for the megadeal series has not really reverted back to the way it was after the start of the new publications.

And that's great. But Books 29 to the end are of no use until we get up to book 28; which we may never see. Of course, in the states, anything after Book 20 will be new terrirtory.

Each book can be read and completed as a stand-alone.

I don't see any. Point one out for me.

There is a lot of new Lone Wolf material being published. New material is being written. The Story so far for Lone Wolf #29 was published some time ago in S&P.

Some of the books are also being improved. Extended book 1. Kimah and Chaos master. All the bonus adventures which all seem to be getting longer.

While books may be delayed, they have all arrived also to you eventually. (Except maybe for book #15.)

thanks guys, I'll try sending an e-mail to msprange

DOH, last night I sent the e-mail asking if there was a problem with my shipment and I just received the book in the mail today! Now I need to send a 2nd e-mail telling msprange that everything turned out good and I jumped the gun a day early on getting worried.

Thanks again everybody! Book 15 looks great!

For those lucky chaps with their books, have you seen any changes in the main text?

In particular things like new starting equipment, silver bracers in the item list of things you can carry over, changes or clarification as to the dreaded para 156 (in terms of the EP loss or the types of items you must consume).

Changes to any of the 'falling mast' instant death rolls (see paras 63 and particularly 66)

Changes to the Warlord's stats (75) - was CS 50 / 36

Always on the look out for tweaks to the otherwise very nasty GM series!

Hi Drake_NZ

To answer your questions:

Yes you can carry over Silver Bracers
The EP loss is still there (though it now says that if your EP was less than 15 you cannot raise it to 15) Also get rid of all your meals, Laumpsur and / or Alether
The instant death is still the same as before (para 66 even got me this time
:( )
And Magnaarn's stats remain the same

However, we do have a nice map at the start, some pretty decent artwork (not up to Brian Williams, but still pretty good) and a great story.

The bonus adventure is good too - 150 sections and it goes in a totally different way you imagine it would. I like it!

One question about the bonus adventure (sort of spoilers);

At a Level 3 Tactician, it states you can increase your CS by the number of Crusaders at your command plus 10 points. Does this 10 points continue when you have no Crusaders? if so it makes the combats really easy, but I wasn't sure if it only applied with the Crusaders or not.

Oh and the overall quality of the book was great - I can't say I spotted any really obvious errors which was good.

Looking forward to Book 16 and a new Shamath riddle! :D

I'd say it doesn't continue, personally.

The rule, while it does not explicitly state as much, is dependent on having Crusaders. No soldiers, no bonus.

Hi August

I was thinking that, but it didn't explicitly say so I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks for clearing it up.

How did the chasm jump go Drake?

Pete

I haven't tried yet - I have three brave characters who have completed books 1-14 without deaths, and I haven't had the courage to run them through book 15. Hence my intense speculation about possible rebalancing.

Of course I'm REALLY worried about book 17!!

Went well by the way - I rolled a 2, so narrowly made it across the gap and only lose 2 EP. With my kagonite chainmail, victory against the warlord was assured!!

Right where is my book 16 :)

is it normal; I didn't receive book 15 yet
I bought the Magnamund Mega deal
I live in Canada
Thanks

Have you emailed Mongoose rather than post here? You'll get a better response going direct to them as a proper query rather than just a post in a thread.
