Lincoln's in for a fight - new campaign

The Adept

Mongoose
I’m going to be taking part in a B5 campaign, so I thought I’d post up some details and observations as the campaign unfolds. I don’t know many people on here (Hi Digger! How’s things?), but hopefully a bit or two of this will interest someone.

We play at a gaming club in Lincoln called Gobstyks – here’s a link to the thread on that forum about the campaign http://gobstyks.freeforums.org/babylon-5-campaign-2008-t421.html

The players will be
Jonathan (Brakiri, also campaign organiser)
Ben (Drakh)
Chris I [Me] (Vree)
Chris II (Minbari)
Chris III (ISA)
Will (Shadows)
Adam (Crusade era Earth Alliance)
Andy (Narn)

We’ll be rolling up the strategic targets and planning the first moves tonight. I’ll post up what happens later on (provided there’s any interest!).

My starting fleet will be:
1: Xonn
2: Xonn
3: 2 Xill
4: 2 Xill
5: 2 Xill
6: 4 Xixx
7: 4 Vaarl
8: 4 Xeel
9: 4 Xaar, 2 Xeel
10: 6 points of Tzymm (18 flights)
2 points of Zorth (6 flights)

dunno, i wouldnt usually start with a war level vessel in a campaign but add one at a later date as the starting battles usually arnt huge.

We've just had the talking bit of campaign turn one. I'll put up the system we've fighting over up when the GM puts it online. The only fight is going to be me vs the ISA player, fighting over a settled industrial world.

The area two settled industrial, and both were being taken when it was my turn - I really wanted one, so I had a choice between taking on Mimbari or ISA.

Each turn is going to be three weeks long. Hopefully, I'll play my game the week after next.

Hey Chris, you realise we can use this forum to sneakily discuss tactics and alliances without the other players catching wind of it (except maybe Jonathan as he occasionally checks here)

ps i'm Ben of the Drakh for those who are following this whole sordid affair

pps Chris, do you think we should post any of the campaign's narrative here aswell?

Depends a bit on the number of players vs the targets and how aggressive you think the start is as small ships are cheap. If its going to be a slower build up - big big to start the campaign with and stock up on Patrol and Skirmish later. I think all players have had at least one war level ship in the campaigns at the club.

Exception:
Unless playing Shadows Vorlons - always get the big boys and girls early - you won't afford them later has been how I have found it.

Here's the system we're fighting over, and the first turn movements:

1. Settled World – Industrial (Minbari)
2. Gas Giant – Medium
3. Gas Giant – Low
4. Dead World – Barren
5. Space Installation – Scrap Yard
6. Outpost – Mining (Drakh)
7. Uninhabited World - Temperate
8. Space Debris – Asteroid Belt
9. Inner System Comet – Mineral Rich (Narn)
10. Dead World - Molten
11. Uninhabited World – Verdant (Brakiri)
12. Dead World - Barren
13. Dead World - Molten
14. Settled World – Industrial (ISA vs. Vree)
15. Uninhabited World – Verdant (Shadows)
Trade Route

Just as a thought, you could start a Yahoo Group for messages, file posting, etc. I did this for our last campaign and it worked out fairly well. WE are waiting for P&P before we start the next one.

Round one was concluded last night, with my Vree taking apart the ISA in a 6pt patrol Call to Arms. He took three blue stars and six white star fighters, against my two xeels (3/1 fighter split) and two patrol boats (I forget the Vree name).

That victory, plus my nice new world, plus some 'other duties' action gives me a total of 48 R&R points - not bad for the end of turn one! I'm gonna save it up and buy a space station. The slight damage I suffered (to one carrier - I only lost one fighter flight) was repaired by the free Vree R&R points.

Round two, I'm taking a spaceship scrapyard, and the shadows are attacking my industrial world! Time to kill some ancient enemy... There's a couple of other fights going on as well, including Drak vs Mimbari.

You need more Xixx, could use a Ztak. You will do well. Kill the Narn player soon, before he gets too many Dag kar,emines-too many will be hard for you to deal with. Xixx is the best ship the Vree have. Kill Narn now,or you will pay dearly for not having enough Xixx or no Ztak.
I always start with atleast one war ship. They are expensive in RR,best to have early as you don't know when the Brakiri rolling other duties will steal rr points from you.
To the Drakh player, good luck you will need all you can get. Send ,me a message to discuss Drakh ideas. I am the Drakh in my current campaign.
