Liati, anybody cut that ridiculous nose off?

You can count the number of Centauri ships that have stealth on one hand and have fingers over! that's not "doing" stealth!

(and yes, I'm gonna put quote marks around "doing" from hereon in)

True, though there'll be a slight shift in Centauri stealth in 2nd ed

If the Centauri have decent stealth technology it would make sense to apply it to their newest anti-ISA ship designs. The Minbari stealth tech was very, very effective in their war with earth, so the Centauri might try this as a way to even the odds against the more advanced White Stars and Victory-class destroyers. Even limited stealth might result in less hits on their ships, or getting closer to the enemy before they open fire. That's valuable in a fight.

Personally I would say all ships should have stealth even if its just 2+ as being missed 1 out of 6 is better than not being missed at all. However this road would take us back to B5 Wars.....

hmm maybe - given the ISA access to Minbari tech - esp Minbari Scouting Tech/ships which could negate Stealth, they may feel speed, manuevability and firepower to match or exceed the ISA ships is the way to go - not saying they would succed but it would fit in with the Centauri mindset of the Adira / Liati. I would think new designs would either have Dodge or GEG - latter gained from the Drakh, perhaps with the Neutron Lasers also gained - again like the Adira / Liati?

New Stealth, however has its place and perhaps a few specific ships may be built to utalise the ability - to Scout (Corvan) enemy fleets or carry out sudden strikes - hit and fade attacks- again learning from the Shadows and their minions?

just my thoughts....................... :D
I would not want everyone to have lots of Stealth - thats the Minbari thing - alot of fleets have the odd special ship (usually a Scout) which does have it and that is fine ?

But that applies equally to all the other races. Vree have stealth technology, look at the Vaarl! Stealth 5+. Surely they would put that on their newest designs, too? So why doesn't the Brivoki have stealth?

Similiar argument for the Brakari intereceptors - why do their little ships have it and not capital? There may be a argument (I say may) that the Centauri (and others) have mastered enought tech etc to screen theri smaller vessels but trying to do so to a cruiser etc is beyond them and still have it as a capable vessel??

not enough room for everything I guess. especially with that big speaker system they got installed.
on the Liati well its been made fast and manoverable to match whitestars so isnt much of a stealth ship as a fast attack one.
the centauri so far have the corvans and rutarians with stealth.

ok forgot them, so we upto 3 stealthed ships in the centauri :)
perhaps its just too expensive to put everything on the one ship, so only ships that need stealth have it.

and those stealth ships are ECM scouts, which most races have

the Centauri are only now (with the Rutarian....) starting to build Minbari style stealth ships

Perhaps because the Brivoki is nothing to do with the Vree?

Stealth is something I, if I were a Centauri fleet admiral, would consider as a way to even the odds with the ISA. It might be that the advanced tech the ISA has from the Minbari and Vorlon leftovers means this isn't a viable way to go, but I'd explore the possibility.

I'd also have a GEG on the Liati - anything that reduces the enemy's effective firepower is worth having. The first one to shoot might get the kill in real combat but if you can survive a hit to shoot back on the occasions you don't get the first shot, you still win...

Oh... yeah...

GEG 3 would be good on the Liati. White Stars never get more than 1 hit with a Neutron Laser, so 3 would be ideal

It would make sense to upgrade as many ships as is possible to GEGs but I supose its a question of if the tech can be intergrated on old ships, how easy it is to produce etc etc.

The Liati as it stands is not a War level ship - it is a good ship - just at the wrong priority, but can] be adusted to either fit either - War and Battle (unless they go down the White Star route and have Raid, Battle, War and fighter Liati  )

My thoughts remain same on Stealth - for reasons above............... :)

the fluff says that the Adira was corrupted hence the Drakh tech, while the Liati wasn't interfered with, hence no Drakh tech
