Mongoose
Hi people, I was just woundering what you think about the paint scheme on the Li Halan.

I ask this because I paint the noble armada rang to be sold, but I think the Li Halan's paint scheme is not that good (sorry mongoose) and I think If I sold them with a better scheme they may sell better.

So what Im asking is, do you think people would buy them with a better scheme or do you think more people wont there mini's to be the same as Mongoose, and if you think a different scheme what would it be.

Thanks

I also agree, I was planning on doing something that matched this color set.

Frankly while I like the color purple, the colors they chose to use was just too pastel for the space warrior in me. However I loved the color set in the wallpaper I linked, and hopefully when my stuff ever finds it ways Oklahoma I'll get to see if it really works in the miniatures.

Li Halan being somewhat Asiatic in concept, I think using bold strong colours would work well - especially if you added contrasting diagonal stripes and 'mon' type symbols, it would be more a japanese feel than chinese.

Cool stuff, Im liking it so far, I will be ordering the box soon as a sample so if we can come up with some schemes by then I can start painting up some prototypes , maybe I could then present it to mongoose to maybe change there official one, which would be cool but maybe wishful thinking.

thanks :-)

did you paint the decados dread in your sig? didn't even know it was available before your sig arrived. looks very nice

Sorry the decados is mongoose's paint work, I did not have any armada mini's when I made the banner, but the Chaplin is mine, I should change that now I have some hawkwood painted up.

How about a "neither" choice? The white-and-lilac is fairly awful, but the red-white-black is too much like Hazat. Be more inclined to try a white/off-white with some gold accents personally.

Not a fan of the Al Malik green-and-purple either, but I haven't settled on a replacement yet. The only time I'd want those colors together as-is would be if I was painting the Hulk.

What!? You don't like our magnificent Decados Green and Black?! I pay far too much in tithes to the church to stand around and listen to such blasphemy. Blast!, where is the Inquisition? never around when you actually need them!

What a Decados who legally pays "tithes" to the Church! And calling on the Inquistion to boot  They are normally on the recieving end of the Inquistion Flamers.

You must have a bit of Li - Halan blood in your family tree.

I think they would look better with the green and black reversed actually, or maybe in royal blue with yellow trim?

I think you should, questioning official schemes whilst nicking one of their pictures... shame on you

 OOPS. I will try and put this one in today.

Nice paintjob, good detailing, makes me think I might go with grey rather than white for my main hull colour though, the white seems a bit brighter than I'd like.

thanks for that LBH but I think the camera and lighting made the white come out a bit to much, I will be putting up a hawkwood painting guide this week, so you will be able to see it step by step.

You're welcome, like I siad I'm not critiquing the painting skill, or even the colour choice, it's just not what I want my ships to look like.

Mind you, first time out, I doubt my ships will look like what I want them too :)
