latest website update, Bismarck repaint

Aha, it was this exact breakdown which prompted me to enquire after something a little more detailed :D

I would love to know how you paint your wood effect deck. What colours you use for the superstructure/guns/camoflage, etc. How you apply your highlights.

Cheers
Sam

Agis, did you know that on the Bismarck the "Swas" was squared off even and not at a 45-degree angle? Most of the other ship deck insignias for the Kriegsmarine were at a 45-degree angle (I've seen it on old film reels). I knew about the swastika being "verboten", but (in a humorous way) I'll remind you that the back side of the cloth flag back then was a reverse just like you painted it  . Thus, you might still be in "violation" :? . Maybe the Iron Cross is a good "safe" substitute, or you might visit a museum and see if there are exceptions to models? ... time passing ... OK, I did a small bit of research and it seems that if you keep it in your home, it might be ok. Just don't take it to conventions, I suppose  . The safest would be to paint it over grey, as they actually did that when out of reach of the Luftwaffe at sea. Here is a link to a bunch of modellers talking about ship decks. I hope this is of some help. A further piece of info that I did not know was that some of the markings had a red circle border around the white circle, or a full-out flag (which I did know about). Look at the jpg links to see some of these on that same site.

Interesting, thanks for the link...
But since I rarely left my home with my ship models I do not see such a big problem...
