Last Call for Star Fleet's Finest - July 28th

It looks like the coming Star Fleet's Finest tournament is going to be the largest yet, but we still have room for a couple more players - this is one you will not want to miss, as every entrant will be given a free ship (of a type not yet seen...), together with the latest playtest rules for it, plus there will be a few odds and ends on sale that won't hit the streets until next month, giving you valuable time to get ahead!

Listening to some of the competitors, it also sounds like it is going to be a varied tournament in terms of fleets and tactics - we hope to see you there!

We colonials expect an exhaustive, detailed and picture heavy AAR since the geographic location was clearly chosen with a deliberate eye towards excluding us. :P

I'd recommend taking pictures of everyone's fleets and getting a couple of players to do battle reports for the next ACTA journal.

Quick question, is the Olympics causing any problems with transport in Swindon, any army check points, curfews, zil lanes, etc.

I'll have my fleet in my miniatures case that is converted from a gun case, and I don't want to get riddled with bullets when I limp off the train.

Check points? In Swindon?

Umm, no, we don't really do that round here :)

Not yet

Once you see the riot police putting up the fences around Mongoose towers you suddenly regret writing that modern day spy RPG about overthrowing the government

I live 120 miles away from London, but we've still got signs telling us to 'get ahead of the games' by walking everywhere and not even trying to use the transport system, and bizarrely two waves of checks before I get on the train to work. At least it's not a six month curfew like the people living in the Olympic borough.

And Swindon could be hosting Olympic tiddlywinks or whatever (Coventry has some Olympic football, and already there's been disruption in getting people to an 80% empty stadium).

If the Olympic train has passed you by though, then there's nothing to worry about.

Mongoose Towers could host the Olympic Sport of "Call to Arms". Great Britian would hold all the medal positions as we are awesome in our skill :).

Matt can we have a winner podium and play a chosen theme song as our Anthem(Imperial March or the Kilingon Battle theme from Star Trek Motion Picture. In honour of the Olympics :).

Well done Clanger, you've just got Matt arrested by the Olympics brand police.

Don't worry Matt, we'll bail you out. You don't seem like the kind of guy who'd thrive in prison.

Not to mention the Paramount Police for working outside the licence, what is this "motion picture" you speak of?

All's well. The ADB IP police arrived to investigate the alleged use of music from That Which Must Not Be Named. The Olympics Brand Police, displaying the usual level of competence seen in Olympic security so far, arrested them. The legal teams from Paramount and Lucasfilm were mistaken for competitors and are both currently undergoing screening for illegal drugs and weapons.

All hail Vodlesport, the festival of sport in the capital of the UK taking place between 2011 and 2013.

On a slightly more serious note, I wanted to get the Klingon/Orion squadron box, and I've already pre-ordered the Romulan Reinforcements squadron and the Gorn fleet, and don't want Kzintis, do I need to bring money to buy any other squadron boxes?
