He's got to sell the fleet book somehow. Besides, it's not as fleet-specific as the heat blasters - Li Halan is getting a martyr too - so better reserved for the main rules updates pages of the new book.

Three or four weeks to Vuldrok now, tops.

Historically, it seems that the Hazat are the most immediate rivals to the Kurga Caliphate (from what I've gathered, at any rate).

Based on the fleet lists at least, is there any particular way in which the Hazat and Kurgan fleets match up that one should look out for?


And on a wider note, how many people here are actually planning on fielding their own Kurgan fleets, or are most people waiting to see how the other new FotFS navies turn out before they make a decision one way or the other?

As only one of the two players I know of in Oklahoma we have discussed it and weren't overly impressed with the Kurgan. We loved the new ships designs, but were less than enthusiastic about another inaccurate race. None the less I'm planning on getting the Vuldrok and will probably pick up a fleet box of Kurgan as well as I want to have all the fleets eventually.

Funny you'd mention the two of those together; the way I read it, the Kurgan Heat Blasters would not be inaccurate when shooting at unshielded ships; and I hear the Vuldrok won't have shields...

Could make things interesting if/when the two "barbarian" forces duke it out.


(One thing I wonder is whether or not the Kurgans would miss not having a "big gun" on their dreadnought, the way certain Known Worlds fleets have with those light and heavy Meson Cannons; or does their on-table dynamic work in such a way that such toys aren't quite so dearly missed?)

These are good question. Of course you might also notice that their point value isn't that of a Known World's fleet so that might account for the absence of the "big" guns. Also the Vuldrok have some kind of "Heavy Armor" I don't know if this is a rule or a higher hull number. But its going to effect such things when the two get together for trouble.
