Klingons on the Starboard Bow Tournament Report

Biggest shocker game was when neko's two fast cruisers were behind my fleet and firing in turn two, really thought I was going to lose that one

I saw that - a brilliant use of Fast Cruisers.

Also missed say "Klingon's on the Starboard bow." when playing against Alan's Klingons. Missed opportunity :D

The Unique rule from earlier editions would have worked well for this sort of thing.............

my tournament:

Matt was very kind in lending me his Fed warships as my Klingons were not ready.

1 Kirov battlecruiser (which survived every game)
1 Constitution Command Cruiser
2 Texas Light Cruisers - which usually took the brunt of the fighting
3 Burke Frigates - In sinks and defensive ships - they were put into the line of battle with reluctance and usually died there

I had decided to merely enjoy the games against unfamailair opponents and set my self the objective of killing at least one ship a game :)

Game 1 against Alan's Klingons
Really great fun - and whilst on at least one turn we could hardly hit each other - the other turns proved suitably bloody with much of my fleet going down but did kill the enemy dreadnought :)
13 - 7 loss

Charge and Kill that Dreadnought!

Game 2 against Klingons - slightly ironic that I played the first two games against the race I had been hoping to bring!
James fleet was very different built around D5's and D5Ws with no frigates or Dreadnoughts. First turn was a bit nasty as his disruptors had awesome long rang accuracy which would continue during the game. Good fun and plenty of destruction as I again lost my escorts but sent two enemy cruisers to oblivion.
13 - 7 loss

Swirling melee

Game 3 - agianst the Romulans who I really hate playing against - worse than the Minbari!
Hmm odd one here - the game was "Rescue" and as the enemy fleet advanced I cautiously gave ground - fully aware of how deadly the romulan plasma had been in previous games. Probably I was way to risk averse but as they advanced I kept firing huge amounts of phasers in the hope of damaging the stealthy ships - to very little avail. Cripppled a Snipe near the end but it did not loose its cloak and the Romulans clamed the victory -without firing a shot.
13-7 loss

Game 4 against the Federation
Relgated now to the bottom table where they obviously considered terrain was too difficult for you to cope with! I faced the very striking looking enemy fleet of two Dreadnoughts (!), a fast cruiser and a pair of frigates. Will was still learning his trade and sent one dreadnought out alone to meet my fleet - which was hammered into burning wreckage by three ships but my light cruiser had strayed too close and was crippled by the explosion. Mopping up now contionued as massively out In sinked, the second dreadnought was finally pummelled into submission, with the fast cruiser following quickly.
20-0 victory

So in the end finished nicely mid table, had some very good games against friendly and good natured opponents - my thanks to them.

I completely forgot. I was too quick away at the end as my lift showed up. Yes, you did, but I wouldn't want to put you out. I'll PM you my address, but please don't put yourself to too much trouble on my acount.

Thanks

LBH

Yes the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places got a prize and trophy. Also the lowest ranked player always gets a prize as well.

If it would be acceptable, I'd like to contribute a prize for the next official tournament. Who do I talk to about it?

That would be me...

Okay. I'd like to contribute a Fleet Box's worth of my firing arc base stickers. I've gotten a lot out of the community here, including quite a few sales, so I wanted to give something back to the community.

Shall I mail them to you?

Well Bilco i think those bases are great, if you ever have a chance to send them to random postal addresses dont forget to include mine in the draw

"i never say no to free stuff, free Klingon poop? ummmm........"

They are really awesome additions - very generous of you to offer.

Hopefully they may talk to about making it an actual product!

Good question.

Would Mongoose be able to organise one for during the Olympics? We'll all be sick of them by then, and as long as people didn't travel through London they hopefully wouldn't run into too much disruption.
