Can I ask what is the difference between this model and the present F5? Only ask as it seems a bit strange to remake the same ship when there are whole Empires to do and various Empires to complete?

The F5W has a larger body, and additional weapon mounts.

The F5W mini will be visibly larger than the F5 correct? By that I mean you will be able to see a difference when side by side on the game table....

I ask because I have seen games where they just use the same cast between versions even when the background indicates size differences.

I'm a bit doubtful if these two are two scale (as they come from two seperate original pictures), but this should at least demonstrate the differences in shape.

They can't be the same scale because the engines should be the same on both.

Not exactly; the F5W has 9-box engines in SFB/FC, instead of the 8-box models on the F5.

hmm well as long as they are actually different sized ships I can sort of see the point in making this a priority over actual new ships.........

Look again. Not only if the bridge bubble different, but the mid section of the body is wider. Compare the crease where the wings fold down. On the F5, it's in-line with the deckhouse, but on the F5W it's widers than the deckhouse.

The Starline 2400 series F5 and F5W are visibly different. Especially when teh two models are side-by-side on the table.

I can only imagine that the Starline 2500 versions will be even more different.
