Just Finished! Gunge Vending Machine.

After my last vending machine (Which can be seen here at http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=102&t=50556) I had the vending machine bug. They seem to make such great accents to the gaming table and can even make good objectives (What gang wouldn't want one of Otto Sump's vending machines in their hideout?).

So I searched through my bits closet (Yes, a whole closet) and looked for pieces to make another vending machine. As I was making it, I wondered what would be a good item to put in it.

At first I considered Boing. I'm not really sure where one buys Boing, and I figured since it comes in cans a vending machine would be a good place for it.

However, I couldn't remember whether Boing had been outlawed or restricted or what, so my mind turned to one of my favorite 2000 Ad characters, Otto Sump. It seemed like a logical thought process, as today's vending machines (not counting Japan) tend to vend snacks or drinks. I remembered Gunge and thought that would be a great machine to make.

It's funny to me that I decided not to make a Boing vending machine due to not knowing it's current legal status and that led me to make a Gunge vending machine, which I am certain has been made illegal (Under that brand name, at least.)

As I like to do clear windows on my vending machines, I figured just a bunch of cans of Gunge lined up would be boring, so I also added some snack cakes (Complete with clear packaging, a real pain to put together) and some sort of bottled beverage.

Anyhow, here are the pictures.

This one took a bit of trickery to do. I gut a hole in some foamcore and shines a light up the open bottm of the machine. As the machine is hollow and has an open bottom, I hope to eventually but an LED light in it as I think the effect is wonderful.

Let me know what you think. I may do one more machine for Otto's "Smart Sweets" but I would have to find a picture of the logo.

On a side note, does anyone know what the Judges called Gunge once they started selling it themselves?

Looking great, and I think the LED lighting it all up would improve it ever further. I'm a great fan of LED-lighting on the tabletop.

Gunge was a range of foodstuffs, not a single item, so when the Judges renamed it they literally went with Foodstuff A, Foodstuff B, Foodstuff C, etc. It was all in generic packaging marked only by a double-outlined irregular multiple-point star with "Justice Dept. Guarantee" written in it.

Sweet work! I love seeing DIY projects. I plan to embark on a few myself.

Keep up the good work and would love to see more ideas.
