Was this rescinded solely for torpedoes along with must be a minimum of 10 dtons for the J-4 version?

This requirement was dropped from the design sequence on p11, it's my understanding that was intentional and that jump is solely limited by the minimum size of the jump drive.
The requirement remains in the definitions on p4. This creates uncertainty. Either p4 or p11 should be updated.

The minimum size can be reduced by using technological advantages as specified on p51.

Nope, no exceptions are being made. All ships will follow the same rules.
 
100 ton limits for jumps are a Third Imperium limit, not a High Guard one. So, you won't see ships of less than 100 tons with jump drives in Third Imperium books, but I can very well see them being possible in other universes (X-Wings).

Funnily enough, I was considering the Jump Torpedo earlier today (was paging through Project Steel), but I don't think we'll make it a thing in High Guard.

Please don't. Keep jumps to the 100 ton limit. Jump Torps, a one time oops, should not be allowed back into the core rules.
 
And yet ion cannons, tachyon cannons and dogfighting are allowed? They are all more setting breaking than jump torpedoes, along with no repulsors :twisted:

Allowing jump capable small craft and torpedoes as options (both of which have been OTU canon at some point) doesn't break anything and adds choice.

Now we are just discussing our different opinions. :mrgreen:

I believe that the core rules for Traveller should include some optional rules to show where it could go. But I do think there should be a clear line between the core rules and optional add-ons. Sort of how optional drive systems were presented. Not as Canon, but rather as something that could be added onto a setting if we wished to. :D

But in the end you are right, it will not "break" the game either way. :mrgreen:
