July Painting Challenge

Now Presenting: The Sixth Monthly Painting Challenge

Rules
1) You have until July 12th to declare your vows for this month, after which you can't change your vow. [EDIT]: Changed from 7 to 10 days as per CheesyRob's original rules.

2) No picking mostly painted models; that's cheating.

3) [EDIT] There is a rule three! Please read: You don't need to post pictures, but it's really nice if you do. If you say you finished, we'll trust you. If you're lying, you officially suck (to quote CheesyRob).

4) The only price for failure is knowing that your failure has been recorded on the Forums. The miniatures you failed to finish may occasionally glare at you and demand to be finished as well.

5) Your level of skill is of no concern when wanting to participate in this challenge. The purpose is to simply get people to paint and share their miniatures.

6) Above all else- Enjoy your hobby, don't turn it into a chore.

And now with the obligatory weasel words out of the way: Let the paintbrushes fly and the paint stained hands rise in triumph.

My vow this month is to refurbish a second-hand Necron Monolith. The current state of the thing is simply horrendous. Sombody attacked it with gold, silver, and green paint and did a half-arsed job. They also firmly glued in the transparent green rods that are the signature of Necron models, so I cannot simply primer over everything and call it good. No, I have to go through and put on a new black primer by hand.

Then I have to ask my roomie what paint scheme he wants it in.

ive still got my trools and cygnar to do for PP

plan this month is to get my pimped up technical painted...

Hi Folks,
I don't normally rise to challenges like this to be honest as I have way to much to do with MI work, work, and having a family to look after. However this weekend I am taking part in a 500pt Steamroller for Warmachine up here in Edinburgh and need to get my army finished as soon as possible.

So if its a challenge here is what I am doing right now (started on July 1st at 4am)

Kharchev The Terrible (drilled and pinned ready to be primed)
Widowmakers (painted)
Kodiak (painted)
Behemoth (drilled and pinned ready to be primed)
Winter Guard mortar crew x 2 (painted)
Manhunter (drilled and pinned ready to be primed)

Second army list
Destroyer x 2 (painted)
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist (primed)

I have till 10am on July 7th to get all these models finished in time for the tourny and will try to post images of them as I go along if I can.

OK, an eclectic collection of things to attempt to paint this month.

Primus Battlecruiser, Dargan Strike Cruiser, 2x Vorchan Warships, Eldar Wraithlord, Space Marine Dreadnaught, I'm also planning on at least basecoating a Forgeworld Revnant titan. If I have time, I'll also add a G'Quan, a Rothan, a G'Karith and a Thentus.

Of course most of this needs primering, so is dependent on it stopping raining for long enough to get outside and spray primer.

Update 4.30am

Kharchev The Terrible painted needs based
Widowmakers (painted)
Kodiak (painted)
Behemoth painted needs based
Winter Guard mortar crew x 2 (painted)
Manhunter painted and based

thats almost 500 pts done in three days :) and anyone who has even built Kharchev and the Behemoth will know that its no mean feat getting those together let alone painting them in a night :D

Only got Gorma di Wulfe to finish now and all done!

Pics coming tomorrow Im off to bed.

For now

I guess I have to first disqualify stuff I started this month before this post and finished or will be finishing shortly. So far I painted Three Mobile Infantry on ATVs, a MI standard bearer, 5 Weird WWII Germans, and touched up 4 Ape Marauders. I'm also working on touching up 2 Mantis Hunters, 1 Mantis Assassin, and 3 Hopper Bugs that I started in June.

Hmm.. I guess my plan for the rest of this month is to paint:
1) a Crescent Root Studios Middle Eastern Village (4 Buildings, 2 towers, walls, and gates)
2) Chickenhawk Marauder
3) Ape Bigfoot Marauder
4) Stalwart Bug Field set

I'll stop there since I'm running convention games next week.

OK I have failed a few times in the past so I guess I'll try again.

This month I will paint only one thing One Platoon of HO scale Type 61 JGSDF medium tanks.

Well technically that's 4 things but I should be able to pull it off.

I remembered that I am demoing SST:Evo at a convention next week. So I am painting a 36 strong platoon of LAMI and 10 Tiger Warrior Bugs. Yes by 1 August.....

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... Choo CHOO! ...
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can......

I'm just about set on what I planned to accomplish. I got the Crescent Root Studios village and the Stalwart Bug Field Generators done for last weekend's local convention. Now if I can just find the time this weekend to get the 2 Marauders I listed done..
