Hi

im new to dredd, but not to miniature games.....ive got the new rulebook (which is great) and picked up a judges box, only to find my best mate is using judges too,I am contemplating cals retinue, but I dont like the klegg models.....that got me thinking is there any rules anywhere for using jimp gangs???

Well... Jimps are technically mercenaries, but as with all games, if your opponent allows it, then I can't see why you can't purchase them as a part of your starting gang for a campaign.

It all comes down to talking with your mate.

If he says he is fine with you running a JImp gang, then go for it. I can't honestly see why he shouldn't be.

There's no reason you couldn't both play as the Justice Department, with one of you being from a corrupt sector house. Judges are on the take quite a bit in JD.
Another approach could be to use the Apocalypse War resistance list to represent your Judges working with street gangs. The low ammo rule could represent the fact that your Judges have been exposed and are now on the lam, so they can't resupply very easily. I quite like this idea the more I think about it, actually.

We talked about running it as a 'training mission' for a few games - the idea is that everyone has blank ammo (or paintballs?) and has to act dead if they are hit. Backstory is that it is two groups of Judges who've been away from the streets (desk jobs, protection duty abroad, long term injury) being prepared for the reality on the ground.
