The Great Table fills another chair. Jim Ward of TSR fame has passed away at 72. I share a posting from Chaosium's basicroleplaying.org forums page:
We mourn the passing of TSR veteran James M. Ward, who recently passed away at the age of 72. Jim was an important figure in the history of tabletop roleplaying games - he was one of the first players at Gary Gygax's Dungeons & Dragons table as the game took form, and co-authored its fourth-ever release, Gods, Demigods and Heroes (1976).
Jim also blazed the TTRPG trail by creating of the first science fantasy roleplaying game Metamorphosis Alpha (1976), and co-authoring Gamma World, the first post-apocalyptic TTRPG (1978). He will also be remembered as the co-author of the renowned Dungeons and Dragons release Deities & Demigods (1980), and author of Greyhawk Adventures (1988), among many other creative endeavours across TTRPGs, card games, and fiction.
James M. Ward leaves a memorable legacy. Our condolences go to his family and friends — Chaosium Inc.
