[JDMG] My rules question compilation topic

Hello Rulesmasters, I've tried asking several of these questions on the JDMG bit of the forum without a response, so I thought I'd add them here in the hope of an answer or two. I've added a couple more questions as I thought of them while writing this and would greatly appreciate some answers, thank you for your time :)

How does the armour upgrade work for the Mercenary Mutant? It says it already has +5 armour (Or is that a typo or something given it’s cost of 45?), buying +3 armour for 20 points make little sense if it doesn’t combine, and if the +5 is a typo or misprint then shouldn’t the mutation be the same as it is for the normal mutant?

Do you get the Vid Reporter roll even if the Vid Reporter becomes a casualty? I assume you roll on the injury table for Mercenaries as well (since if a merc you want as a loyal follower is dead then that wouldn’t make a lot of sense) and if so I’m guessing it literally needs to die for you to not get the roll?

If you've got a Mercenary as a permanent addition (Through the Loyal Follower Talent), is there any way to change/add to their equipment? What if they became Heroes?

What happens to a satellat if the model it's purchased for becomes a casualty? And do you roll injuries for a Satellat if it's killed? Ie, is it counted as a Minion in all respects (xp for killing, and stuff) or is it just considered equipment that can be targeted and do a few things on it’s own?
When your force goes under 25% do all remaining models have to roll Will-To-Fight or just the one with the highest score?

How does a Zombie Horde play if it’s Mistress is forced to miss a game? What about a Lone Vigilante without a Side-kick/Loyal Follower?

Is “Pre-Measuring” allowed in JDMG? I can’t find a concrete yes or no (The bit about failing a Melee action seems to imply you aren’t allowed to, but there are stuff that can cause that despite knowing the distance (dangerous terrain, jumping, etc) and at the same time there’s the bit about only being allowed to make a Shoot Action if you’re in-range, and it can be hard to know that if you can’t pre-measure.

Are you allowed to intentionally “fall down” heights by walking off them? And if so, can you continue your move/melee action after the fall (assuming it didn’t kill you)?
When it comes to fulfilling the primary objective(s) on certain scenarios. To take Street Rumble as an example, would the model to fulfill the objective be the one to remove the last enemy or be the one that causes them to flee, or is any model that caused a casualty in this scenario going to get an extra XP?

Shouldn't the Vid Reporter be available to all forces to reflect how desperate they are for a selling scoop, and for game balance purposes? (Doesn't seem fair some forces get a lease with which to get extra cash while others don’t)

Hi there,

Some of these questions are under consideration at the moment, and may cause changes in Block War, so if you can wait just a little while, you will get a very official response! However, some quickies;

1. The Mercenary Mutant will certainly have some changes to it :)

2. If the Vid Reporter is a casualty, I would say his camera is broken too, so no bonus!

3. At the moment, there is no way to change their equipment (mercs are a surly bunch and don't like being told what to do :)).

4. I would tend to allow pre-measuring in this game.

5. Can't see an issue with intentionally falling :)

6. The Vid Reporter is, at the moment, only allowed with the forces it is listed in.

Thank you for the reply, I'm looking forward to any future Block Wars update!

I've made the appropriate changed to our groups houserules document, where we were looking for rules clarifications and will speak with them about some of the other things (like the Vid Rep). Have a nice day :)

Trying again here with a few questions.

With the +5 armour removed from the Mercenary Mutant, should people use the Desperadoes Mutation table instead? Otherwise the Merc Mutant has a max armour of +3 for the same price.

Having a Satellat automatically count as destroyed when killed seems a little harsh given they are pretty expensive (I can buy a Judge instead if I just pay three times as much, and the judge is a lot better, especially considering how it won't automatically disappear on a bad dodge roll), but it leaves me to wonder.
What happens to a Satellat if it's owner is removed as a casualty, and what happens if the owner runs away? Does the Satellat give XP to someone that kills it (despite being equipment), and does it give the xp for any kills it does to it's owner?

With the way Animate Dead is written, does that mean that a Zombie Mistress can insta-kill someones model by animating them as a Zombie, even before they get a chance to roll on the injury table? It seems a little harsh (Though I suppose it might be incentive to not go too close to the Zombie Mistress)

Does the equipment from a Ruined Block count toward a models maximum credits allowance (despite being free)? If so, what use is it for models with no options for such objects? Also, does "equipment" mean anything (guns, armour, etc) or just misc stuff like medkits?

Comparing buying Judge to buying a Satellat is apples and oranges - one is a "gang" member the other is really a boost to a figure - its a extra gun, gives free Alert reactions (even if hidden behind a wall) with BOTH it and the Judge and its not easy to hit. Its well worth its 50 pts.......you need to look after it Comrade..............

Yes, it's a boost that will die on average to the first Punk with a Zip Gun that decides to shoot at it, since unless you hide it behind a wall all game (making it's "free gun" pointless) it's gonna be just about impossible to give it any sort of cover.

Even the people I play with thought it was absurd that you'd just end up losing it automatically, but then that might be due to us having played with custom rules to make the amount of credits you earn less prone to skyrocketing (We're testing out the new campaign rules now though.)

Would be great to get responses to the above questions (and preferably also a comment about why the Satellat got such a hefty nerf, still waiting on my Sov Judges, so only proxed them a few times to try them out).

In the meantime I've got a few more questions. Normal armour does not stack (with the exception of the mutant getting +1 to it's armour for having both the armour mutation and gear armour I guess?) but what about Psi-talents that provide armour? As it is the first talents anyone running Psychics around here get is Foresight and Ectoplasmic Shield(at level 2), creating a nearly impenetrable wall of a model. Is this intentional, or does the psycher talents work similarly to armour in that they don't stack with stuff from the same category?

Speaking of the mutants, does the mutations increase their "base statistics" or is it considered a raise (like with levels). Example, Shoot +2 mutation. Can a Mutant get +5 shoot or +3 shoot max if they get that upgrade?

Also a bit curious what your plans are with the talents psychoportation and mind bomb, I can't see anyone (not even Andersson!) who can use these :/

As far as the armour psi-talents are concerned, the rules clearly state that these give you a bonus to your armour value not a separate armour value. So they stack.

And yes, it's powerful. But experience has shown me that it's nowhere near as powerful as some people are afraid of. We've had plenty of psi-judges shot while armoured up in full cover (so total armour value of +12).
