I would like to see careers based on campaign types or environmental factors, mostly Lo-Tech or Hi-Tech.
Lo-Tech Cavalry:
Say a LoTech (TL is 3 or 4) career with no interstellar contact:
The current skill table for Specialist: Cavalry (Army Career):
Mechanic
Drive (any)
Flyer (any)
Recon
Gunnery (any)
Sensors
The Skills Definions in the Core rules for Gunnery would not make sense in that kind of world at TL 4 (space weapons). Sensors, Flyer and Drive might not make sense for TL 3 world (no electronics, possibly no powered vehicles). Perhaps define the old role of cavalry with appropriate skills:
Animals (riding)
Animals (training)
Melee (blade)
Melee (bludgeon)
Robot Worlds: No Medic skills, repair related skills for "physicians"
Generational Ship careers: Crew and Colonist (revived individuals have normal careers?)
Arcology/Sealed habitats (ala Logan's Run): No wilderness (Survival) or Animals skills
Cyberpunk settings: Hackers, Street Punks
