It seems like I am naming alot of stuff these days. Sometimes I can look at something and I know its name; other times its alot harder. This ship is one of the latter. So lets make this a contest. This is a sub-100 ton fighter produced by the Krown Corporation (from Mech Tech 'n' bot: Spaceport Tech 1). Reply to this thread with your idea for the ship's model name. Whoever's name I choose will get a free pdf copy of the 16 page book Mech Tech 'n' bot: Fighters and Small Ships, due out late November. Enter before Nov 7th.

Good luck and happy gaming.

Might help to know a little more, what type of fighter (light, heavy, interceptor, etc)?

I'm going to stat it up after the contest is over. Until then, I'm not deciding anything. Only that its <100 tons is the only firm piece of crunch I've settled on.

I'll offer the Centurion, from the title of the Roman military officer that leads 100 soldiers. (The tie-in between the tonnage and the number of men was what drew me to the name.)

Copperhead class, or Diamondback, or even Sidewinder.

Mind you, if the thing shakes about in flight due to some contractor skimping on the inertial dampers, you might name it the Rattler class for a damned good reason ...

It looks a lot like the fighter from "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century", but that had the less than imaginative name "Starfighter". Mind you, if it's good enough for the F-104 then it's good enough for a fighter which actually does travel to the stars. :)

Alternatively "Gemini" for the twin hull design. (Especially if it turns out to be a two-seater with one cockpit in each hull.)
