Mongoose
So, I have been trying to order Babylon 5 ships through my LGS since July.
In mid-December, my LGS owner e-mails Mongoose directly and sets up an account with them. He sends in the order from our group:
Drakh Fleet Box Set
Psi Corps Fleet Box Set
Hermes Transport x4
Chronos x2
Apollo x3
We check back in with him after the account is set up, and they estimate a 2 week turnaround. Should be in just after Christmas.
I checked in with the store, February 9th. Which is 6 weeks after we were supposed to get our order.
To be honest, I got my hopes up. I was thinking to myself: this could really be it. Mongoose can cut their turnaround from order to delivery in 2, maybe 3 weeks in case something happened.
My hopes sank lower and lower each time I called in to see if my order had arrived. I checked with my other game store. I recently picked up my Vorlon box set. Mind you, I ordered it in September. Their distributor isn't even promising an ETA on shipments for Mongoose anymore. Also, the box was short 4 Destroyers and my "heavy" cruiser that I purchased was actually a light cruiser. However, I did send in an e-mail and I am told that the Ohio facility has been notified and replacements will be sent.
It's been over a month since things were supposed to get better in the states, but it appears that everything is exactly they way they were before. One store isn't getting anything and the other can get shipments in three months after they were ordered.
So, where are these improvements? We're paying more for our ships than ever before, and haven't seen any increase in speed or efficiency in exchange. I have seen a drastic increase in quality. The flash isn't nearly as bad, and there are only slight flaws in casting and design. However, that bonus falls drastically short of all the other problems we are still seeing.
For months we have heard promises. When are we going to see results? I apologize if my post is upsetting, but I am very upset myself. I am worried that all these people who stop by our table to ask what game we are playing are going to want to play themselves, and then give up when all these neat miniatures are simply unavailable.
