Good Evening, All:
I have been reading recently on the concept of Patronage Projects, as first brought about by Open Design. For more information, please check out the following link:
http://www.koboldquarterly.com/k/faq
It's a very interesting concept, and I admit I'm surprised that no one has suggested doing so for Traveller as yet. Toward that end, I'm going to ask if there's interest in a patronage project for Traveller.
Here's the details of what I would propose:
If I decide to open up a patronage project for Traveller, I would offer to create a 64-page (minimum, very possibly larger) Adventure/Campaign Sourcebook for the Foreven Sector similar in terms of content to the classic Spinward Marches Campaign. There would be three levels of Patronage: Silver, Gold and Titanium.
Silver Patronage - $25 (Standard)
Silver Patrons would gain the following benefits:
* A free copy of the complete project PDF, professionally laid out;
* Access to the Print-On-Demand final version of the book, in either Digest or Standard size soft cover format, at cost;
* Access to daily design discussion dialogue, including the ability to evaluate and comment on the material being discussed;
* And previews of artwork as they become available.
Gold Patronage - $50 (Advanced)
Gold Patrons would gain all the benefits of Silver Patronage, plus the following:
* Ability to evalaute, review and suggest improvements on initial sketch stages of interior art, cartography, layout, players handouts and any other visual aspect or graphic element of the project;
* Weighted voting rights in polls (each vote counts as two);
* The ability to propose an encounter, an NPC or one other element to be included in the final product;
* The ability to name a location within the product, such as a world or establishment; and
* Recognition and Acknowledgment in the credits of the project.
Titanium Patronage - $100 (Elite)
Titanium Patrons would gain all the benefits of Gold and Silver Patronage, plus the following:
* The ability to propose multiple encounters, NPCs or other elements to be included in the final product;
* Weighted voting rights in polls (each vote counts as four, plus one additional vote per additional $25 contribution);
* The ability to pitch ideas in the design and development stage, and have significant influence over the direction of the product;
* The ability to name multiple locations within the product, such as worlds or establishments; and
* Receive a signed hardcover or softcover Print-On-Demand copy of the final book personalized to you.
If it looks like there's enough interest, then I'll open up the project for contributions. If we hit the project's threshold, then I start work on the project and create a deliverable within three months. If we do not hit the threshold within 45 days, then I refund everyone's money and we call it quits.
If you'd like to see a new campaign sourcebook for Traveller and particular for the Foreven Sector, and if you want to have a hand in its creation, please let me know that you'd be interested in this project, and we'll do what we can to make it happen.
With Regards,
Jason "Flynn" Kemp
