Is the G'Vrahn a G'Quan model?

Spitfires and B52s CAN fly in space. The pilots may not live long and they may not be able to steer but they can sit there on camera just as well as anything else ;)

Well they can fly in space.

Just gotta get the new spacesuits. And uhmm, well booster rockets for acceleration, but who cares ^^.

And dont say you missed them on screen!

Lol, and unless I'm wrong thas the only time a T'loth is seen during the entire series. Theres probably a story somewhere about why it was never shown again for the remainder of the series

No. Actually your wrong. The first episode "In the Firing Line" was when they attacked the Centauri base.

They are seen again in the "Chrysilis" episode defending the Narn base. They are of course destroyed by the Shadows rather quickly.

Well the T'Loth is an assault cruiser designed to attack planets, which is exactly what its doing in its one appearence...

And it probably is used to defend other planets from other invasions by other enemies. They land, surrounding the other army, basically getting the chance to strike second AFTER they have set up their forces.

But it was a cheap, massive capital ship used by the Narns at a time they lacked the capability to design and build something like the G'Quan. Filler, you might say.

Chances are good, given it's dimensions and it's distribution of hull space, that it was some kind of heavy transport which was then converted into an assault ship. This has actually been done by several REAL companies today that turn aging cargo ships into assault carriers.

^case in point^

The house section was moved forward while the stern was turned into a flat deck for VTOLs. Even America's first Air Craft Carriers were nothing more than Battleships with flat decks welded to the tops.

It's about cost and cost reduction, especially during war time and, in the case of the Narns, global rebuilding. They can't afford to go and design and build a whole new class of ship when they can take old cargo ships and convert them into warships.

I realize I talk too much...

Plus dont forget that they started out with Centauri designs.

It would be a neat idea to see a couple '1st generation Narn' designs in the future. I'm thinking ships that look like the era-appropriate Centauri vessels, but stripped of the curves and frills to be the blocker Narn lines. Basically, ships sharing a skeleton but little else.

If you want to look at an early Narn ship, look no further than the Rothan, while there are a few conflicting dates for the Narn independance, the Rothan was built within about ten years of that date, I can't see a precedent for it in any fleet to be honest, it looks like a new design, rather than a rebuilt centauri ship, however the dates tally and it is "probably" the first narn warship. It could be based on any number of minor race ships that were conquered by the narn, although what they conquered with is a different question.
Ten years is a pretty quick turnaround by todays standards, look how long they have been trying to build the Eurofighter, , but I suppose conversely the Swedes designed and built the Grippen in about 6 years! amazing isn't it, Little sweden can design and build a pretty decent fighter quicker than the combined might of Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain, by a good 20 years!

The Swedes were not designing by committee Typhoon I think was. I want a fighter no I want a fighter bomber no I want a red sports car !!!.

Yer the european commitee style has huge problem, airbus is a great example :S

And the Thentus has fluff of being based on Centauris tuff too. Dunno i never really check ISDs, but the fluff points that way.
