Is 'Planet Mongoose' dead?

There has been so little in the way of posting recently (i.e. none since 21/9/9), that the question arises as to whether it is still supported.

It would be a shame to have it wither away, as it was informative as a feature (at least in a gossipy way).

There again, its disappearance would allow space for another game-line to be inserted into the Mongoose home page header....

Apologies for this. No, Planet Mongoose is by no means dead, but everyone here has been rather busy of late (which, I suppose, means there should be plenty of news!). There is a _lot_ going on right now with new lines and new games in the offing, and we are all trying to square the ducks at the moment, to mix my metaphors.

I have (more or less) set today aside for development of our new miniatures game which is due for release around April-ish next year (give or take the odd month - lots of ducks circling right now!), but I'll see if I cannot make a post a little later this afternoon.

Dang it! Could you at least tell us if these minis will be 28mm or 20mm? :D

Or even better 6mm! ;-)

(speaking as vivid fan of 6mm ARMIES. No more paltry skirmish gangs of few hoodoo's but real ARMIES attacking each other! Planning 6mm BF Evo: WaW in carry case with magnetic bases ;-)

If you want 6mm the existing Evo rules are spot on.
Just add the rules modifications I established with World at War: Gear Krieg and you can even play with multibased infantry stands as in EPIC or FoW.

Multi-based?-) Who's talking about multi-based :D 1:1 individual troopers more like it ;-)

(okay yeah crazy idea but with rare earth magnets should be doable).

People keep claiming BF:Evo rules works well for big battles but figure scale prevents from playing big battles without getting too crowded in normal tables. 6mm individual models would certainly fix that issue ;-)

Good luck with individually based 6mm minis!

Well. Magnets below them, metal ground for table. Easy to move and they sure won't be flying around accidentally :D

And you are really planning to move all infantry separately in a - let's say - 6000 pts battle...?
Have fun... 8)

And a metal table does not sound like a beautiful one.

But does allow playing on less than steady surroundings like moving car ;-) Travel version :D

Besides who knows if it would be possible to hide the metal area. Those magnets are strong. Who knows what through it can attach itself.

And moving 6000 pts infantry in 6mm or 28mm...No difference. You still need to move them individually. Only difference is that you have less area to reach through as table needs not be as big.

Aliens vs Predator anyone?

I've no idea if this is the game Matthew has been eluding to recently, but with the Rebellion/Mongoose association it seems that there are real possibilities for an RPG and/or Miniatures game. Not to mention the fact that a new video game is due out Spring next year...

I would love a skirmish game based around the Aliens/Predators/Colonial Marines conflict. The BF rules would work pretty well.

Matthew mentions special movement rules in his latest Planet Mongoose post. Could that refer to the Aliens?

I would love AvP as an Evo Skirmish!
100% Spot on fitting to the rule set.
Let us all keep the fingers crossed!

It's not going to be AVP, He mentioned DUCKS up above. Maybe a WHFB type game with RQ armies? Could be cool. Do ducks fly? :)

Maybe AvD, Aliens vs Ducks?

Movie studios keep releasing Aliens films, Monsters vs Aliens and Aliens in the Attic, but I'm disappointed when they aren't the face-hugging, chestbursting kind.

On the other hand, they do appear in Planet 51, sort of.
