Is it a good division of strength?

Hi guys

I finished Pirates Of Drinax as it was in my how to best run part 10, Oleb retired to enjoy his pleasures, now Rao and The Noble Pc are king and queen and I want to know what you think of their plans for defending 117 worlds across 9 subsectors and 2 sectors with 9,663 ships are.

All 117 planets are guarded by 60 ships that range from 100 tons to 3,800 tons, their are 20 reserve fleets of 100 ships that range from 400 tons to 11,600 tons for emergencies and A Stargusrd of 643 ships that range from 1,300 tons to The 56,600 ton Aslan Super Heavy Cruiser that was their capital ship that we captured in A 2D6-2 roll that up as A Double 6 or 10 during the final battle

That is how my group has assigned Drinax's Ships to defend The Kingdom of Drinax. What do you think and 2 of The Subsectors and The 2nd sector are reached by A Star Trex DSA9 inspired wormhole to a very distant part of the universe

Why no answers?

I appreicate the advise, thoughts and ideas of the, in my opinion, great minds on this site

What is there to answer? You have finished an adventure and created an empire of 117 worlds, five times more than the old SIndalian Empire. http://wiki.travellerrpg.com/Sindalian_Empire

You've created an Uber empire of TL 27 in your other posts which may or may not be in the same universe as your Sindalian Empire Reborn, and have a DS9 wormhole thrown in for good measure in this adventure. You are so far from what I've ever played or experienced with Traveller that it is tough to comment on anything you write. It is so far from anything I consider that all I can do is offer a 'hope you have fun with it' comment. I have no idea what sort of storyline or challenge you might have the players face next.

Off the cuff I would say your navy is seriously underpowered and small in tonnage. An Imperial BatRon with a few Dreadnoughts could wipe out your navy in an afternoon unless you have some sort of tech advantage. http://wiki.travellerrpg.com/BatRon

A look at Sector Fleet could inspire you to have a local Imperial Lord decide to carve your 117 worlds into new Imperial client worlds. A look at the Sector Fleet book could have you mapping a marauding mass of ships as they grind your empire to pieces. It depends what Tech level your worlds are.

Whether or not it is a good defense would require so many pieces of information that a good answer would be very hard to give. Who are the fleets protecting against? A 56,000 ton capital ship may sound nice, but when the Imperium fields multiple 500,00 ton dreadnoughts (with full escorts). The Third Imperium has individual battleships that outsize one of your systems entire fleets (you said 60 vessels, up to 3800 tons is 228,000 tons total maximum), and that doesn't include their escorts either.

On the other hand, those fleets should protect just fine against pirates, or a single Aslan clan or so.

Protecting every system with 60 ships is stupid. A world surrounded by friendly worlds doesn't need that many ships. Size down the system fleets so that they can comfortably deal with any low level local threat - ie pirates and criminals. Concentrate the rest behind your lines. Build up your intelligence so that you learn about approaching invasion forces beforehand and move your amassed fleet in their way. If that fails, don't defend individual systems. Let the enemy take a few, then counter-attack with all you got.
