Is anyone working on the game?

Merging Shadow Ships - interesting but I guess that brings up all sorts of fun things with the pinning and telepathic disruption?

*waves hand* "You don't want to consider the Psi Corp"

*waves hand* "You want the shadows to die"

The Shadows look at the strange little human waving its limb about, sigh and hand it over to the Drakh for reducation. "Your Jedi Powers have no effect on us" We are not our ships........... :D

Bester points out the window (that they have on space ships for no aparant reason) Look it's sheriden. The drakh turns around and bester shoots him in the head with a PPG stupid drakh no wonder the shadows are losing this war.

Sounds interesting, the only thing i think the shadow fighter needs, is some dogfighting scores....

Come to think of it I also think that stealth should be powered down a bit, just this last weekend my 5 sharlin varients, (2 sharlins, 2 sharkans and a sharoos) owned the face out of 3 shadow ships young and a shadow ship ancient....

Bth missions where the assination mission, first up i was hunting him and i took out each of his young ships before over whelming the ancient one without lossing a ship thanks stealth, in the second game even with cleaver use of hyperspace mastery and positioning, where i was the defender of the assassination mission my stealth just shut him down, and I took out his fleet.

And this is against a race that is suposed to have an easier time seeing me.... I really rather shudder for the younger races that don't get that bonus roll if they have no scouts. (admitedly he knew what my fleet was a week in advance but didn't have any scouts)

but that whole stealth issue has just overpowered too many games.

Shadow fighters should have stealth.

I can't see how you could kill an ancient but the shadows require a good general to get the best from them...

I sort of wondered why the ancients, some of whom are younger than the shadows, can completely ignore stealth.

It doesn't make much sense that EITHER Shadows or Vorlons would have any problems against the stealth systems of younger races.

However in terms of game balance, both Shadows and Vorlons have a full (well sort of) fleet list and as such are viable options for day to day play. If they simply ignored stealth that would give them a MASSIVE advantage over races that relied on their ships being balanced with Stealth (i.e. the Minbari, Psi Corp). Still they do get a bonus (+1) and combined with other ways to reduce stealth (get in close, use scouts (Shadows), use fighters within 1" (counts as attack dice against ship so reduces stealth by 1 for rest of fleet), then you can reduce stealth by 4 points making Stealth 5+ an automatic pass...it's not bad really now is it?

The First Ones are one-off unique ships, not intended as a fleet list, they don't have fighters or scouts to help reduce stealth. Also they are at a higher priority level (ANCIENT) so it has far less of an impact on overall game balance to make 'em truly monstrous and ignore things like Stealth. Make sense?

Yup. I'd kind of figured them as special event ships. We are planning a big multiplayer scenario, with a random ancient. If it doesn't turn into a fiasco I'll post the scenario up.

Maybe the Shadows and Vorlons should have an "Ancient" level ship for each fleet to reperesent the pinnicle of their achievements (Vorlon Planet Killer or Shadow Cloud).

Yeah but in campaign turns you couldn't beat that.

What do you do to a shadow cloud? no1 would fight it just go right where no-showing.

I think you would be hard pressed to field an ancient level ship in a campaign, and have enough points left to field a viable fleet with it. Remember, each ship can only be used once a campaign turn.

So when you write your list you buy it ! simple.

So it would be what 2 arma points?

I can stretch to just about anything but not the cloud it's just about unstopable.

I'm not saying you couldn't get one in a campaign, but if your starting with 10 battle points of fleet allocation, and there is a few players, you could be stuck for ships if you have to fight two or more battles in one campaign turn. Also if you have a couple of low priority battles in one turn it might not even get an outing.

Well were going for 20 battle points next campaign. and 75% of my games where battle level 8+ points so ya know.

Am not exactly used to this small scale engagement yet lol

This thread was really depressing to read,

The 'wow, can I do x, y or z' part of the game almost always leads to broken ships, and dominating crit tables. I like a good ship explosion as much as the next guy, but not when every ship explodes all over the fighters sent to disable it. 'Wow' only retains it's value if there is some hard thinking in between the spectacular moments.

Balance is pretty thin line in this game... please don't just toss new rules at us that only a handful of ships will be able to use. I don't want to see this become another example of wildly swinging 'latest = greatest' power.

But the abbai, most seriously in need of help of anyone but the raiders can't be bothered with... what utter crap...

Ripple

agreed - no reason at all not to have new Abbai ships - if there are no new models to be had varients of the existing ones are easy - Hiffs sourcepack has it sorted :) Just test em and make them official - job done

:)
