IS Age Of Dreadnougth Compatible to VAS?

In a word "no".

The range of stats in VAS was such that all BBs and BCs in AoD would be identical. Plus the gunnery ranges needed some serious adjustment. AoD will be compatible with the Span-Am and RJW versions that I'm (slowly) working on.

Is there no way for a Table like target Armour rating drop for ships of nation X by 1 of nation y because **** by 2. and so on?

I ask because there are only one or Two System on the market whitch startet 188* or so and go until 1980 or 1945. The rule of VaS are fast and really easy to play (Even when i fell that by some thing a clear oficial note is missing Like Crew loss and so)

Its possible I suppose, but I'm struggling to see the point of doing it. I can't imagine setting a 1914 fleet against one from 1945, and those ships that were of WW1 vintage that were still around in the era of original VAS have (at least for the major fleets) been statted out.

Of course, thats not to say that you shouldn't have a go when AoD hits the streets :)

This doesn't bother me in the least, so long as the Austro-Hungarian navy is included. You did include the KuK Navy of the Dual Monarchy, I hope? :)

At this stage, we didn't. British, German, Russian and Turkish to start with (giving us campaign settings in the North Sea, baltic and Black Sea, as well as 1914 cruiser actions (plus the US 6th BS to keep our colonial cousins happy). I plan to do the Austrian, Italian and French ASAP to cover the Med.

So you let the interesting parts out.

Okay, please tell me you have the Russian predreds that mixed it up with the Goeben. I can be semi-happy then. :)

Oh yes, and there is a Cape Sarych scenario in the book too (or at least there should be :) )

Just heard I should be getting the first draft of the pdf version to review just before Christmas :)

@ DM

I'm really glad to hear that you are doing a Japan/Russian war version of this game. :D The best I was hoping for was that AOD would be adaptable, but this is even better.

The navel aspect of the RJW has been something that has interested me for a really long time. I've read just about every book the local library has on the topic. And last time my wife and I were in Japan to see her parents we tracked down, and visited the Mikasa. It has been converted to a museum ship.

I had the pleasure of a trip to see the Mikasa over the Summer. Despite the torrential rain it was a most excellent day out!

It´s great also that you are preparing a version for the Spanish American War.
I know that the Spanish Fleet was really outdated but I´m use to play with looser armies, and I think that with some luck and some maneouvers, we can, at least, be an interesting oponent.

Well also the Spanish fleet's battleships (and other modern ships) were all based in homes port and weren't actually involved in the war.

The squadron at Santiago was all outdated cruisers taking on modern American battleships. And the fleet at Manila was caught by surprise whilst in harbor.

So there definitely is scope for slightly more even conflict.
