I'm currently taking this online GM class from Faster Combat:http://fastercombat.com/
The classes are great and I highly recommend it to my fellow GM's. I thought I'd share a useful Initiative tracker and Encounter manager that I created in Google Docs with suggestions from one of the lessons:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnDAt7zyZu0WdE5wUU9FVGdPbER6dnotN2dyYUd2WGc
Once I plug in the Initiative I just sort the spreadsheet accordingly and scroll through the combatants. I can keep track of rounds and special effects or conditions with it. For each encounter I just copy the main sheet over into a new sheet and add in the bad guys. There is a lot of easy to setup conditional formatting which color codes things easily and makes it a breeze to see what's going on.
I still have a few things I'd like to get working but so far I'm pretty happy with it and its nice to have a useful tool thats not based on D&D only :x
