Ingenious Storyteller Needed - Apply Within

If you take a look at the outline of my first game session HERE, note the cliff hanger ending.

Well, my players thought that was pretty cool. The problem is: I have no idea where I'm going to take it from there.

Like any good television series writer, I build hooks into my stories. If the hooks play well and catch some interest, I'll take the "given" (that which I've already established) and slap a storyline or an ending onto it. It could lead to an adventure scenario.

When this is done correctly, the GM can come out looking like an ingenious story plotter.

If you feel like getting creative, take a look at my outline (the first session played very closely to what I predicted--and skip the green text) and slap down your ideas.

Where can I go with that Vanir dude?

Also, remember that his story can be revealed game years in the future, too. It doesn't have to be immediate.

There really is some good stuff in this work Supp4. Just wanted to point out that Olaf from 'Betrayer of Asgard' is a Nordheimr and not a Hyborian. It is up to you, of course, but it might make things a little more difficult to tie up when you get to play that campaign.
Anyhow, one of the first things that jumps into my mind is that the old man must have been Aesir. However, what if he belonged to that other traditionally blonde people, The Brythunians. This could link to Olaf/Olav now being a Hyborian.
What if this old man is, in fact, a minor Brythunian nobleman? What if he is the actual cause of the loss of Olav's arm? What if Olav was a swordsman in more ways than one(a bit of a ladies man)?
You might also be able to fit in another staple, a buxom, blonde Brythunian beauty. However, this one is not dim and is in fact a scheming temptress. She could be the daughter of said nobleman who has paid, the slightly villainous, Olav to kidnap and dispose of her father before he marries her off to some sweaty pig of a merchant in order to regenerate the family wealth.
What if she has also hired some mercenaries to follow Olav and dispose of him once the job is done. Nothing riles up the Cimmerians like a bunch of foreigners with attitude tramping through their territory. :)
