Interesting comment re Traveller scale.

There is definitely something to that; High Guard's superdupercapitalshipofdoom do certainly change the setting massively - both in terms of economics and combat.

I have to say I tend to find the firefly-type setting more interesting, until (bizzarely) you get into the ultratech end of the market.

Yep, once you have 100,000 dton warships you need a VAST and POWERFUL empire to finance them, and that empire is MUCH more omnipresent than the empire which only has 4x 1,200 dton Kinunirs per subsector.

I'd say I don't mind having 8 or so Kinunirs a subsector, but I can see why that'd be in the core. On the fringe you'd have 4, plus maybe 1 ship over 10K tons. Though the navy should have 10 or so Type Ts and Gazelles per subsector plus 6 or 7 Broadswords and a couple 1000-ton ships (Chrysanthemum anyone?).

Am I the only one who prefers the Type T to the Gazelle?

Nope. I've been a Type-T fan since I saw the classic illo. That it's a useful ship is helpful too.

Which is why I'd rather have had the Type-T in the MGT CRB than the Gazelle.
