Independent mars fleet?

I can always make LOTR seem like a good idea when I say the word 'Byron' to myself :-)....I really, really wish they had made that episode 18 or 'R' certificate so we could see him go up in smoke!!!!!!....maybe there will be a directors cut

Byron was forgivable though since they at least had the decency to kill him :P

LotR might even have been forgiveable if the star in the system had randomly gone supernova killing everyone involved with the film except GKar who miraculously would escape in an escape pod to go write a better movie....

I suspect that I will not shift your views :D

Well, to get back on topic:

I was wondering about the fact that when mars becomes independent, do they get a fleet and if so are there any rules or house rules for a mars fleet?

I created an independant Mars fleet (Martian Defense Force) as the idea for my Crusade era fleet. I departed, "fluff"-wise, from the EA by creating a more Roman-centric approach to naming, etc than the Greek-centric approach the EA has taken. Hence, Roman Numerals, ship names, I even used the WH$40K IG symbol for my fleet logo (reminescent of the Roman Legion Eagle, and double headed to represent the founder fathers of Rome, the twins Romulus and Remus). I figured that since Mars was the Roman God of War, it sort of made sense.

I don't use any different rules or anything, and here are a couple of images of my fleet.

I'm not sure if this helps you at all, though. :)

Is that a ramming spike?

I'm not sure, honestly. I really think it's where the Beam weapon is located. But it certainly is phallic, isn't it?

And thanks for the compliments, guys.

I believe that is the sensors cluster......the big beams are to the right and left of the mounting.

I believe the big spike is a sensor mast. The HPC barrels are the two small objects either side of the smaller, upper mast.

At least, that's where the shooting was coming from on the cover of one of the B5W supplements.

Nice paint jobs, BTW.

I could certainly see Free Mars wanting its own local defence force as a political statement, although the actual need would be reduced after the fall of President Clarke.

Think of the Irish Free State after 1922, or the post-Soviet states such as Georgia or Armenia today.

And I really would like to see the Belt Alliance.

This might be a place to stick all of those 3A ships that have open-ended service dates, but do not appear on the Crusade Era lists, with a Mars Fleet being something to add to a Crusade fleet the way one adds an Allied fleet to the ISA or Raiders. You'd probably have to increase the PL on each ship in the Mars Fleet by one.

Just gassbagging.

Actually thats not quite right, it goes (chronoligically):

In the Beginning

Babylon 5, seasons 1 through 4 and thirdspace somewhere in there late season 4 I believe.

then
Babylon 5: Year 5 and River of Souls somewhere in there too

then
A Call To Arms

then
Crusade (that's the one with the Excalibur leaving explored space to find the cure to the plague, right?)

then
Nothing Happened. NOTHING. THERE WAS NO MOVIE. IT NEVER HAPPENED!!!!

River of Souls is 6 months after the end of Season 5, Lochley mentions it in her conversation with Corwin whilst shopping.

And technically you're right, there was no movie after Crusade, since LotR happened before Crusade in the timeline.
