Hyboria's Fallen, Fiercest and Finest...

..are they any good as sourcebooks? I'm not overly interested in more feats, etc.

They seem to get very mixed comments but the completist in me is tempted.

I like them. Among other things, they have pretty good interior artwork, including illustrations of most of the race/class combinations in the game. This alone makes it worth a look (literally!).

Well, having just recently picked up The Spider-God's Bride and Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia, that's a good enough recommendation for me. Cheers.

These are very specific D20 books and they contain also a lot of multiclassed NPC samples at 3 different levels. Quite useful if you don't have the time to create some opponents from scratch, less useful if you don't use the D20 rules.

These are by far the most popular books used by my players, due to the suggestions for multi-classing.

I just love them for the illustrations. Go the shield-maiden!

Cheers,
Brisco.

They rate among the less useful for me and my group. Pure D20 stuff, so it depends on what you're looking for.

Except for Traveller, the FLGS's in my area do not carry any Mongoose games. Looking at the online store, I see Hyboria's Finest and Fallen but I don't see Fiercest; is this book still available?

I bought ...Fiercest yesterday from DriveThruRPG. But I've no idea whether it's still available as a dead tree product I'm afraid.

Thanks. At least I know I can get it in some form. I don't normally care for PDF's unless the document is really small. Regular printer paper is really crappy quality so I started using higher weight presentation paper. This is much more expensive though and takes away some of the cost benefit of going PDF in the first place. I may have to look for it at Amazon or (groan) eBay. Unfortunately, my FLGS only stocks Traveller from the Mongoose lines.

After looking, I see that Fiercest (used) goes anywhere from $40 US to over $70 US. The one new copy I found was priced at $170 US. With my Sherlockian deductive abilities I have realized that this book is obviously OOP (at least in dead tree form). So PDF it is. It's irritating though to have Fallen and Finest in virtual mint shape and have to download, print out and hole puch Fiercest to complete the 3 book set. $170 US is a crazy asking price; is there anything about Fiercest that causes it to be so valuable or to have run out of stock so quickly?

I've been thinking about putting all my ATL ed. Conan books up on ebay. I haven't yet decided on selling them as a lot or individually. Maybe in the next few weeks after the holiday dust has settled. With the economy as bad as it is I'm doubtful if I'd have any luck selling RPG books. IIRC, Fiercest is all B/W, so if you'd get the PDF it shouldn't tax your printer like some of the other books.

I picked it up a yesterday from Leisure Games in the UK for £14.50 ($22). Seems I was lucky.
