How is seen a "Jump" from outside? and more questi

For example, in a combat:

1. how is seen a ship by sensors that is about to "Jump"? And how many seconds/minutes would have a ship A to know that a ship B is going to jump?

2. Could anyone track a Jump? Where did it go?

3. Could anyone know how many parsecs is going to jump based in the amount of energy around the ship (if any)?

Thanks for your theories...

OK, thanks, tha thread answers the last two questions, but in a combat, I think that the ships has to prepare in good position in order to jump correctly, so I had some ideas in mind, f.i., to have a DM of -2 to Jump if the ship dogded that turn.

Having a -2 DM for the Navigation check under those circumstances is not a bad idea, though I think I'd give the ship a positive DM if its computer is bigger than necessary for the jump, but *only* for negating the penalty for dodging or similar hijinks that prevent a good positional fix.
