How durable are models?

We all know that if we've carefully painted our models, they need to be safely stored away to prevent careless family members chipping off paint, bending arms, etc.

But, I was wondering, how sturdy are the BF Evo models? Do I really need to buy another carry case? How are other people storing theirs?

The main problem seems to be models popping of their base, but no actual damage to the model of paint job.

In fact, I stepped on one today, and it just popped off its base, no other damage. Of course it was lying somewhat flat when I did.

well i got loads of this stuff, and i have them thrown in the carbourd boxes they arived in, mea in one pla in another and so on, then have them boxed in a case to keep them together, protection they dont need, they just need to be kept in a place that wont get crushed, to be honest a ice cream tup would be fine, if i put padding inside the box it woulndt be for protection it would be to stop rattle.

so fat 1 breakage since open day, and mine get treated pretty rough.

Yeah theyre pretty solid and the paint jobs are well varnished so dont scratch :)

That and the fact that their fairly light and tend towards just bounching and not having nasty metal edges helps avoid scratching too ;)

The display boxes they come in are more than adequate for carrying them about and look nice too.

Ive had one pop off the base but 30 seconds with a tube of superglue sorted though out easily enough!

Just be wary if you are going to use the original box as your only mode of storage. The clear plastic window is not the most secure portion of the box and some figures may work their way out when it moves around or pops out.

I've has a couple lose contact with their bases but nothing a little superglue can't deal with.

They're good tough jobs the infantry. Not gonna experiment with my tanks though!

I had noticed that one of my PLA guys was leaning so I popped him off the base, snipped a badly placed piece of super glue on him and stuck'im back on so he looks good now. I then let my 9 year old and his buddy take the 4 squads i bought for a test drive and so far no breakage.

These puppies take a beating! I don't have any tanks yet though so I can't comment from personal experience there.

I had an interesting experience a little bit ago. After some additional drybrushing of the bases and touching up some details I decided to dull-cote my figs so I took them out to the garage and sprayed them. About an hour later some genius (ok it was me  ) decided to close the garage door using the remote. Well, my figs were on a box right under the door  . No sooner than I could yell "Nooooooooo!" did I hear the most horrible crunching sound. I ran outside and to my horror men and machines layed everywhere.
However, after performing a detailed triage, the only damage was a rifleman off his base and a fierteam leader missing his head  . After a 20 minute search on hands and knees with a flashlight the head was located and reunited with its owner. There was no other damage, not even scratched paint. All Marines are now enjoying a little well-deserved R&R.

OORAH!!!

The only damage that I've had is the gun barrel of the PLA tank broke at it's base. I drilled it and pinned it. Now it's pretty sturdy.

I had a couple of figures stuck to the twist ties that keep them in the box. I don't know if they were boxed too soon, or maybe they got hot sitting somewhere. No damage from pulling them off though.

I had two USMC M249 gunners that were standing at an odd angle. After 30 seconds in boiling water, I stood them both up straight and dipped them in cold ice water. They're both standing tall now.

Out of the 40 PLA infantry that my son got, only two were off their bases and that was quickly remedied with Krazy Glue.

Why does it seem to be only the SAW gunners that are that way? All four of mine had the same problem (and the same solution). I even broke one off it's base to see if some extra glue or something was the culprit. As far as I could determine the fig is just molded incorrectly.

We have had an unconfirmed report of someone accidentally leaving a couple of models in a pocket, then being washed - they turned out fine.

So, it looks like they are machine washable :)

Well, one of my SAW gunners lost his weapon, and my Type 99 lost its barrel....they were stored in the same box, which had a fall.

Did you store them all in one box with merely a sheet of bubblewrap, and accidentally have it drop from a height of approximately four feet?

I broke my barrel removing the tank from it's original packaging. It did pin/glue back nicely with Super Glue though.

I'll have to do that tonight. Last night I was too busy playing the Command and Conquer 3 demo with my brand new mouse.
