Hi yall,

I just purchased myself a vorlon fleet and I'm a newbie to ACTA as well as model painting. Does anyone have any advice on how to paint these ships? Specifically the colors used (brands and type) and the technique (the mottled pattern of the hull). I'm trying to get the colors as close to the tv show as possible and I would welcome any input or guidance on this. I thought I'd start with an enamel chromate yellow but it turned out horrible so I'm thinking acrylics....please help! THANK YOU

Yeah, what you do is you get a really crappy worn out brush. I mean one that's got the bristles all splayed, can't hold a point, looks like garbage. You dab that sucker in the color you want to go over the yellow and stab at the mini with the brush. You may want to practice on some paper to get the mottling just right.

Alternately, you can take a small piece of foam and do the same thing with a corner.

The problem is that it only really works with the larger models. I'd also recommend you paint any details like the wing/body banding /after/ you do this, otherwise it's too easy to get the paint where you don't want it to go.

Since my drybrushing sucks I ended up going for a sponge like I did with my Shadow fleet. Doing multiple layers helps, the trick I found was to (like drybrushing) make sure the sponge didn't have too much paint left before applying to the model.

Since I couldn't find a yellow/blue-green I liked for the base I went with orange. This is GW Fiery Orange base with Blood Red sponging. The blue parts are Ultramarine Blue then Skull White sponge then Royal Blue sponge.
