How about Space above and Beyond

Space: Above and Beyond (sometimes also Space 2063, and also abbreviated as S:AAB) is a short-lived 1990s American science fiction television show on the FOX Network, created and written by Glen Morgan and James Wong. Originally planned for five seasons, it ran only for the 1995–1996 season. It was nominated for two Emmy Awards and one Saturn Award.

The show, set in the years 2063–2064, focuses on a group of United States Marines, members of the United States Marine Corps Space Aviator Cavalry, 58th Squadron, or the "Wildcards". They are based on the space carrier USS Saratoga, and act as infantry and also pilot the SA-43 Endo/Exo-Atmospheric Attack Jet (Hammerhead) fighter spaceplane. With a budget of approximately 1.5–2 million USD per episode, it was the most expensive science fiction television show at the time of its production.

The show depicted a more rigid command structure and organization of forces than contemporary science-fiction shows like Babylon 5 and Star Trek. The show remains something of a cult series. This is partially related to the fact that the series received significantly better ratings during its second run on the Sci Fi Channel, as compared to the mediocre ratings in its initial run on the FOX Network. Criticism has been voiced by the producers, citing the lack of marketing, frequent slot changes, and constant pre-emption for sporting events as responsible for its poor ratings while running on the Fox Network.

Oooooh yeah... I'd almost forgot about that show. It was pretty good. I wish Sci-Fi would re-air it, cuz it definitely had potential. FOX sucks at sticking with good shows. Look what would've happened to Family Guy without Adult Swim.

I'd buy it too! I own the one season on dvd. It was always a great ride which never was treated fairly. It deserves an RPG.

so did the last episode mkae you upset and mad over how they left it..?

I was channel hopping last night and flicvcked through "Rat Race" on Film Four, saw Lanei Chapman in it, took me a whole minute to realise where I recognised her from.

D'oh!

Would be interesting though I think quite a few things need to be developed more since there are only three sides namely Humans, Chigs and the Silicates but still interesting. I could potentially see subraces sections for Humans and Chigs with the artificially grown Tanks for Humans and perhaps a Breeding caste for the Chigs. Would definately be interesting to see.

Actually the last episode was depressing because of how they left it. Although the fandom have technically finished that particular episode. As a matter of faact they have written several episodes beyond the final episode. (I know its' unofficial.)

My better half got the DVD set last Christmas and was thrilled. We had a Space:AAB marathon. It would take little to coerce her in to playing an RPG version.

Where can you find these unofficial episodes that are happening after the last one aired?

I'd like to know what fans made of it.

And I got the DVD box in region 1 even though I live in region 2 but that's hardly a problem nowadays.
Loved the show, loved those hammerheads, loved their suits and loved the spec ops episode.

Seriously guys... If you loved S:AAB, get 2300AD! You can find it on ebay or on CD from FFE. Or 2320AD (the setting is 20 years later after the war with the 'kafers' ends in stalemate and is in the d20 system). You can get the latter form quiklink/rpgrealms.
The setting is almost identical!

I love it more then Star Trek. And knew it before B5.

The casting was realy good, the CGI was splendid and the Episodes where frightning and awsome, the buid up was enourmous from dull space watching (against AI insurections) to goiing into war with an unkown spieces who destroyed one of our colonies without reason.

It somehow also kinda looks as if the new Battlestar Galactica episodes are based on this type of series. (not much, but i see a reseamblance even tough the stories are totaly different)

One of the episodes I truly love is the Memory-mine were they land in a war zone witch is seeded with mines who trigger your worst fears and enlarge them exponentially, real psyk out stuff!

I have been away for a long time... But B MKII brought me back 8)

Oh MAN, when I lived in Georgia (the country) we watched SAAB all the time. It was awesome, and more importantly, it wasn't in Georgian or Russian
