Historical Runequests?

With the release of Pirates and the upcoming release of the Land of the Samurai book, I was wondering if there were going to be more historical source books, and if perhaps you could tell us what they were?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will lead to modern and wild west rules for Runequest, now that Spacequest is dead.

REIVERS!

No-one has ever released a game based on the Rough Wooing and the cross border ruffians that inhabited the area 0f the anglo-scottish border. History provides us with;

Raiding (a word originating in the area)

Blackmail and Racketeering (Blackmail meant Black Rent- a protection racket)

Feuds (again it's current use stems from this era)

Murder and assassination.

Judicial Reprisal Expeditions.

Rustling

Carousing, gambling, horseracing and fitba' (where the badness was planned)

And to add to the fun there is plenty of supernatural/fantasy elements common to the area that can be added. Faeries and Bogles; Roman Ruins and Imposing Castles; Evil Magicians, Witches, Sorcerers and Saints.

Hell I might start work on one myself.

There's a very obvious one.. and something I'm a bit of an expert on. Strange I hadn't thought of it before...

the war leader Owain Ddantgwyn circa 495 in the Cambria area of Britain. A prize to the one who can figure out who I'm talking about.
Go on...you've got an hour.

No takers, 'eh? King Arthur you numpty's. Maybe a more realistic Arthur would be in the offing... and you wouldn't have to worry about licensing either.

I'm working on writing a book set around 800 A.D. dealing with the Carolingian empire and its enemies making use of the Runequest SRD/OGL. Unfortunately, work on it just began last month and it won't be finished until 4th quarter 2008. I've also got plans to do two expansions at least for it, one dealing with Harun al-Rashid/Arabian Nights materials and a Tang Dynasty one, or if Mongoose doesn't do one, then I'll swap the Tang book for a Vikings supplement.

I'll definitely recruit some of you historical types to comment on the Charlemagne book before it goes into publication.

The Kingdom of Jerusalem would make a nice setting : uneasy cohabitation of people of various religions and cultures, diplomacy with the Muslims and the Byzantines, rebellous barons, etc.

I asked this question in an earlier thread and Mr. Sprange replied by stating more historicals were on the way. He did not say what though.

Spartans spartans spartans....

The Warlords of Alexander can cover a Spartan type campaign with a little bit of conversion.
