High Guard Capital Ship Design - Drives

I've been trying my hand at designing a capital ship and am hung up at steps 2-3 dealing with drives.

2. Decide what the cruising acceleration for the ship should be, and determine the tonnage required.
3. Optionally, decide what the maximum Jump range for the ship should be, and determine the tonnage required.

I'm working on a 60,000 ton ship, needle/wedge. When I get to the meat of the book where it discusses drives, I'm confused as heck. The tables that are given make me feel like I'm missing a step somewhere. I don't see any tables with acceleration or jump ranges, and I am clueless as to how to figure this out and decide what I'd want or what drive requirements my ship would have. The example that comes later doesn't help me, either, as I don't understand where those numbers are coming from. Is there another book I should be looking in? So confused. :(

The drive requirement is determined by what jump capability you want, 1 - 6 are the possibilities. Jump-1 means it can jump 1 hex at a time, jump-2 2 hexes at a time and so on.

Say you wanted the ship to have Jump-4 capability, for a 60,000 ton ship this would require a jump drive of TL13 that uses 5% of the ship's tonnage, so 3,000 tons. This costs 2 MCr per ton, for a total cost of 6,000 MCr.

Works the same way for the manoeuvre drive.

Does that help?
