I've been trying my hand at designing a capital ship and am hung up at steps 2-3 dealing with drives.
I'm working on a 60,000 ton ship, needle/wedge. When I get to the meat of the book where it discusses drives, I'm confused as heck. The tables that are given make me feel like I'm missing a step somewhere. I don't see any tables with acceleration or jump ranges, and I am clueless as to how to figure this out and decide what I'd want or what drive requirements my ship would have. The example that comes later doesn't help me, either, as I don't understand where those numbers are coming from. Is there another book I should be looking in? So confused.
2. Decide what the cruising acceleration for the ship should be, and determine the tonnage required.
3. Optionally, decide what the maximum Jump range for the ship should be, and determine the tonnage required.
