High-G Training

Emperor Mongoose
I've been toying with the idea of a mercenary campaign that uses the deployment shuttle (conveniently covered in a Mongoose PDF) to deliver starmercs from place to place. The shuttle has 9 Gs of thrust which, to my layman's ears, sounded a bit uncomfortable (or fatal) until I came upon this:

You can actually train to handle high Gs. Question to the community: Have any of you run adventures or campaigns in which high thrust or high G was an issue? What sort of events did you feature? Would you base skill checks off Athletics (Endurance)? Vacc Suit? Curious to know how you would address it.

Traditionally Traveller spacecraft use artificial gravity to negate the effects of manoeuvres.
Tech level requirements for maneuver drives are imposed to cover the grav plates integral to most ship decks, and which allow high-G maneuvers while interior G-fields remain normal.
CT HG'80, p17.

I can't find it in MgT though.

Ahhh. Interesting. I've had my players in so few ships that can do more than 2G that I don't think I ever bothered to remember that rule. I would assume it applies to MgT2 as well, but the difference between the two games is that CT limited us to 6G, much more manageable even without grav tech, while MgT2 gives us much higher thrust to work with. Even so, I suppose we can optionally hand wave that away with "Grav tech takes care of it."

I can't recall how much Harrington turns up the gravity, but her genetic makeup is optimized as a heavy worlder.

Two gravities puts double strain on your body in general, and your heart specifically.

One and half is doable, beyond that, I don't really know.

Perhaps short term, certainly not long term.
