HG Barage Attacks Vs Screens - Example Needed

Could someone please explain to me how a barrage attack of 100 ton meson bays works against a ship with 6 meson screens at full setting (screen strength 18).

Also a barrage attack of nuclear missles against a ship with 6 damper screens at full setting (screen strength 18).

Screens offer two points per screen. This applies as a DM to the attack roll.

Say you have 6 meson screens, this gives a defence DM of 12, so you apply a -12 to the attack roll.
