[Hawkmoon] Hunters of Granbretan

Mongoose
Hi,

As someone has pointed out, there is a new "hunters of GB" scheduled for a january release.

Any news on this?
Is it an expansion/new version of the scenario previously published in early version of "Granbretan"?
With new maps and artwork (niark, niark, it's good to hit where it hurts!) ?

Thanks in advance!

I reply to myself in order to be sure that someone is answering.

But... er... it is just to ask the same question: wasaaa with this HoG release scheduled in january?

I found this on amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/Hunters-Granbretan-Lawrence-Whitaker/dp/190585031X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1227466210&sr=8-1

Dorian Hawkmoon, Duke of Koln, has recently passed over the Silver Bridge into Europe on his long journey to Persia as part of his forced mission from the King-Emperor. The black-market city of Karlye barely even knew he had come and gone, before he already had done so. Shortly after his passing, another special adventurer from Granbretan follows. This man, a refugee from the bull-masked Tauran Lords, carries with him a very special sword and gauntlet that he claims must never fall into the hands of his former captors. Wounded, poisoned and exhausted... the man dies, leaving the interesting artefact in the hands of the players. Now they are the ones that are being hunted for possessing it, and they can only hope to escape the city and the many soldiers of the Tauran Lords - unless they can find someone foolish enough to take the mighty weapon off their hands (literally) so they can avoid capture and torture by the Taurans. Everywhere the players go they will find that Karlye is a dangerous and deadly place when it wants to be, and the powerful magic at work in the artefact is doing little to help them in staying unnoticed.

Thanks The King.
I check this out and find that it is a 32 pages supplement...

Only THIRTY-TWO?

Is it a (bad) joke or just a way to make money out of a very average (to say the least) adventure ALREADY published in the "Granbretan" supplement.

Hope this is a mistake and/or that the adventure is REALLY upgraded because otherwise we call this situation in french "un foutage de gueule" (something near a total lack of respect for the customer)...
:?

Yes it seems it's a short adventure, but if it's a good one, you shouldn't be that furious. Moreover Matt (or is it Loz?) told us there would be one campaign for both Elric and Hawkmoon next year.

If you already have it, you won't need it - we don't _require_ people to buy every book that comes out for Elric :)

I oversighted this sentence.

Of course!
But, as a fan, a gamer and a customer, what I expect is new material, not just reprints of not-so-old average product.

Of course, you're the boss and you decide for your publication politic...

...but, as a customer (and, believe me, a good one!) I'm quite disappointed by these methods. Don't tell me there is sooo many official Hawkmoon adventures AND such a huge demand that you need to reprint this kind of already published 32 pages material.

What about NEW material?

If your team lack imagination, just give me a mail and I'll provide you with the loads of french Hawkmoon adventures (both published or not) for whom I own the rights and that you can translate easily into english in order to bring many people new crunshy bits of gaming pleasure (of course, not the french speaking Hawkmoon fans out there that already own those modules... but, hey... I'm not a magician!).

A disappointed and impatient fan.

I think there's some distinct confusion and misapprehension over 'Hunters'.

First, its got my name attached to it on the Amazon site, which is inaccurate. I'm neither the author of the version in 'Granbretan' nor working on anything expanded for future publication. Any future Hawkmoon scenarios or campaigns will be original material.

Second, I think what's found on Amazon, needs to be viewed with a pinch of salt. Some of the listings are incorrect and date from a time when titles have been scheduled but not yet written and published, when a particular author's name might be attached and this then changes.

The thing is, books in the publication timeline do change before production. Either another writer is assigned, or page count changes, or a combination of the two, I don't know the precise history of 'Hunters of Granbretan', but it seems to be a legacy as I've just described - or it could be something else entirely.

Sabbak, I can understand your impatience at not having new Hawkmoon material released at the rate you'd like, but it really isn't down to a lack of imagination on the writing team's part. We work across several product lines and have plenty of ideas; but we have to schedule things in so that each product line receives some attention. Hawkmoon had Castle Brass released not that long ago, and next up will Elric's 'Cults of the YK'. In 2009 there'll be a campaign that most likely crosses both the YK and Tragic Millenium boundaries. I can't say more than that because the plans are not firm by any stretch, but Hawkmoon won't be ignored.

Well, first off, not everyone has it.

Let's talk about translation and conversion - I am fairly sure there are plenty of players in the English speaking world who would just about kill to see those in print!

I, for one, would love to see some of the French Hawkmoon stuff translated and converted for MRQ. 8)

And thanks Matt and Loz for the answers!
Glad to see that Hawkmoon is not just a "dustbin game" AND really impatient to see the YK/TM campaign!
8)

If you really are interested in translating french stuff and want to see my own works and/or be put in contact with people that have worked on the french Hawkmoon stuff, just give me a pm and I'll contact you by mail.

For example, I have ready on hand:
- a complete campaign set in Germania (33 p word format + maps, should be adapted to match new background and rules but nothing impossible),
- a scenario set in Scandia (nearly 16 pages word format, same comments),
- plenty of other cool stuff (both scenarios and gaming aids and background) published in our fanzine "Lance-Feu"!

As far I'm concerned, I'm completely open.
And, of course, I can't speak for my fellow "lance-feu" partners but they should be interested!
