Have you ever considered Feats for Traveller?

Yes, I asked.

Have you ever considered Feats for Traveller? Or Perks, or Edges, or Proficiencies, or what ever you want to call them.

Heck they could even be Zero level skills.

I have been grinding through a concept ReBoot of Car Wars and then scratching my head, pondering my bookshelf staring at a shelf full of Traveller, I started asking myself RPG design questions orbiting around Traveller.

So I asked....

Judge dread and strontium dog (both use traveller as their core system) have special techniques that work much like feats, so the idea is already and there are similar ideas in Chthonian stars as well. They might be all worth checking out to get idea for how they work.

Cool, I'll look, I have kinda been on a vacation from Traveller for a while. Actually it has been a wandering in the wastelands.

So I am pondering Traveller as a engine for Post Apocalyptic goodness, with cars...

Well, the new vehicle book would be useful for designing the cars, and as travellers combat system works, its not perfect for vehicle combat, but i think it would be good enough for car war type games.

To be honest Mongoose's failure and any sort of technical details have sent me screaming into the night more than once.

Right now I am just looking at character sorta stuff and winging the technical details.

As right now, Meaning tonight I am working on the RPG-ish portions of the game in my head, beating a set of mechanics for crawling around the ruins of a collapsed Mega-City on missions from the Testing Computer....

Hi,

I guess one thing that held me up from ever getting into any sort of D20 type game was the fact that I never had a good feel for just what "Feat" really is supposed to be, as in many places they seem (to me at least) to either be ill-defined, used to cover alot of different things or just not really fully explained all that well.

As such, I'm not really sure what all a "Feat" would be for Traveller or really how to incorporate them. :(

2300AD introduced traits, which then are divided into advantages and disadvantages. Most are fine but some are better defined than others like Bigoted gives you a clear negative DM but Fanatic is more vague. I will have to wait for an actual play, but given the random nature of Traveller character creation I suspect it is not as much of an issue as it would have been in D20 or GURPS.

Good another source that I have been thinking about buying.

I just kinda interested how other have used the concept.

As for character generation I am playing with the point-buy system, and as an extension adding in customization beyond the skill system might be nice.
