Your probably right...

Just been reading this on the Vilani (http://www.downport.com/amv/Promrise/Vilani/Culture.htm), I don't know where its from, but it gives the Vilani a real traditional Japanese-style society of team-work, of course there are other layers on top of that, and I get the impression Vilani aggressiveness might be based on the policies of an ancient empire like the Assyrians or the Persians (who also subjegated many peoples, and bound them together). The Persian Empire makes quite a good comparison, actually, with its displays, exotic customs and traditions and hierarchies separating commoners from exalted nobles. And it is often claimed that Alexander defeated it primarily due to its inefficient army press-ganged into service, and its long hide-bound traditions which made it inflexible and slow.

As with the Ziru Sirka, the Greeks were no more than a frontier nuisance to the Persian Empire, dealt with by the local Persian satrap (governer) until they became such a thorn the KIng of Kings himself got involved. It all sounds very familiar, and I'll take great pleasure in mining these cultures for more ideas.

I really need IW now. :)

They are 300,000 years separated from their Lupus ??? ancestors. But yes, they are genetically Terran. An Ancients genetics project.

Dogs are wolves.

"The dog (Canis lupus familiaris) is a domesticated subspecies of the wolf"

"Based on DNA evidence, the wolf (canis lupus) ancestors of modern dogs diverged from other wolves about 100,000 years ago, and dogs were domesticated from those wolf ancestors about 15,000 years ago."
