Got a glimpse of Project N today

I know, i was just thinking of a 2 worded sci fi series that didnt have a wargame for it and thats all i could think of.

Invasion Earth? Ok it is a few years old now, and was strictly classic Who.

Isnt the 28mm wargame project D thats of the same liscence as prject N?

They are different licences. (as far as I am aware).

Personally, I'm betting it's something obtuse like Heavy Gear: Terra Nova or thereabouts...

Still, as long as it's customizable for the B5 universe I will be happy...

Ok... slowly I am giving up on me finding out... last hour and a half I spent on Wikipedia going through all there is in terms of a science-fiction setting with space combat and trying to figure out what this could be... :) without coming up with anything nearly fitting... (maybe it's a computer game of space combat simulation or a comic book or a book in general - who the hell knows!) the known info is a bit too scarce to base the search on... :(

Just of curiosity, some of which I was looking on:
- Wing Commander (as far as I know, just two factions)
- Known Space (from Niven - as N-Project but according to Greg the N-word is connected with the combat itself)
- Lensmen series (another movie write project of JMS currently so maybe that could be it, however does not have a second word in the name) :D

Oh well, maybe I'll just wait for Thursday. :)

Oh... I forgot EVE Online... but it would be disputable if this is a two-word setting... and I cannot find anything matching the N.

Personally I always liked Renegade Legion. The space combat version was called Renegade Legion: Interceptor which I suppose could be interpreted as 'N' based on pronunciation. If that is the setting it's one of the only ones that might actually interest me. But given my luck guessing stuff like this that means the odds of this being the actual setting is practically nil ;-).

It did have cool starships that you could either play 'as is' or modify later on in the game. The backstory was pretty well done as I recall.

Cheers, Gary

Guess every company and boss is different. If there was some promotion that big going on at my last company it would be " Hey, we got something big to do. GET IN HERE NOW ! " and we would go and do it.

Well, one guy is in Japan (difficult to recall) and the other is very sick - we did drag her in yesterday so she could get all the files needed (this is Charlie we are talking about, making valiant attempts to get your preview to you!) and she is currently working on it from her death bed.

I could kick and scream, but I don't really want Mongoose to be that kind of company (though I _do_ like the approach Gordon Ramsey has in Hell's Kitchen, and I have threatened to adopt it in the office...).

The flip side is that the staff here carry on working all hours, even when they just want to curl up and die. Horses for courses.

Just checked - it is on Wikipedia. Although the N part only gets a red non-existent link.

How about Andromeda (i.e. Starship Andromdeda [SA])? Since they were looking at Star Trek perhaps they went for another Rodennberry show. The 'N' terms in red on Wikip are Nietzschean, and All Forces Nullification Point. Guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow, or Friday, or Saturday . . . but I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

Or maybe it's Nom Nom. A game about cats in space against evil K9 overlords.

Besides, it could be Volume Form, the new math miniatures game that makes learning higher order mathematics fun.

Burger and I being the few people who would play that?

"My E=mc2 rolls 10 Arithmatic Dice against your Commuative Ring."

"But I have a mobius strip defense, so your attack never reaches my edge."

Damnit, now I want to play it too--especially if I could use Laplace and Fourier transforms as defenses. Eat that differential equations!

I politely disagree--I think these are both very good reasons for being excused from the office. Having experienced both I can definitely understand. I'd rather wait a few more days for the announcement than interrupt either person.

Same for the company I work for. I get a lot of freedom and many would call me a slacker if they could see my day-to-day activities (eg posting on Mongoose forums while at work LOL). But when the **** hits the fan, it is me who is here from 9am until midnight, 4am, or even 10am the next day, fixing it. I've been phoned up while on holiday abroad, on the phone for an hour while sitting on the beach, left parties to do some remote work to fix a problem, and even taken time out of an ACTA tournament to fix a problem over VNC on my mobile. I do it not because I am forced to or shouted at, but because I am treated very well the majority of the time. If my boss was strict with me and expected all the out-of-hours work and interrupted holidays, I would be looking for a new job.

Indeed - must admit that all sounds very like my job :) / work envrionment :D

Well, here is a measure. Over the past ten years, we have employed several dozen people on a full-time basis, all over the world. During that time, I believe I am right in saying, we have had just three leave us voluntarily (and one of those has been debating about re-applying, I have been told).

We do work our people hard, true (a games company cannot realistically work any other way), but we also try very hard to make things fun and interesting - company lunches every month or so (slap up feast at Mrss Miggins Pie Shop), trips to the local wildlife park or the Fleet Air Arm Museum (the girls loved that one, as you can imagine), gifts when we come back from an America show (well, okay, that is more Kelly remembering to do it than me...).

Basically anything that allows us to say this is NOT a 'normal' company!

To contrast one of the department heads at my company fought against a £20 a month team reward program and wanted to introduce a system where people worked different shifts every day (starting from 8am onwards and finishing at the latest at 8pm) when they man a phone bank open 9-5 or spend their time calling businesses (that are open 9-5) to prove that they are 'flexible' enough to keep working there. Bear in mind many people at my office are travelling over three hours a day to work.

The rest of the management team rebelled and it didn't go through, as they are aready down to 12 staff from the 36 full time staff the department should have.

I'm really glad I'm out of that department.

But yeah, Mongoose Towers sounds pretty nice.

Have not posted on this forum for a while but have been following the project N thread for a while.
Not sure it has been discounted elsewhere but could the new liceance be Noble Armada,It has been said upthread that the N refers to the space combat portion of the liceance(Noble Armada) and that the universe name is 2 words (fading suns) It offers about the same leval of factions as B5, and the spread of ship classes is very simular (frigates, cruisers, and battleships). And off course Fading suns is compatable with Traveller,so maybe a deal could include that as well.
Anyway i guess well find out in a few hours

Might be.

If you look "Fading Suns" up in Wikipedia. you'll see the link to "Noble Armada" is red (i.e. with no content yet).
