Got 2nd Ed?

I am glad most of you folks got good copies! :D Well here at my store I have recv 2 copies of each book, but all were wrinkled and spine has already split. Called my Dist and recv another shipment about the same. I cant sell these book to my customers so i am gonna send them back and wait for another printing. I hope my customers will understand. Good Luck with your next printing. I will be looking forward to it!
Make mine Narn!

My FLGS recieved 2 copies of each.

I bought one and a friend bought the other.

Sort of disapointed in the thin paper and black & white format of the book, where the fleetbook has the nice color and seems to be a heavier grade of paper, much like what I expected from my Battlefield Evolution rulebook. I guess it's a cost reduction attempt to get it under the $25 price point, however it really reeks of cheapness. Especially if this is the book I'm supposed to keep and the Fleetbook is the book I update annually. The black and white counters look really cheap, probably better off just posting free counter PDFs online.

However these pale in comparison to the quality issues I noticed after my euphoria wore off while flipping through the pages back at my house.

Both Rulebooks have poor binding where the pages are all wrinkled together and will not lay flat. There's exposed bead of glue along the inside of the spine on the first page. My friend's cover appears to be slightly mis-aligned, where teh "MBP 3400" is wrapped partially around the edge of the cover.

The Fleetbook's first page is starting to come out of the binding after opening it up for the first time. No doubt it will be coming out before the end of the week. The cover has a sticky residue on it as well.

Both books exhibiting the clear coating on the cover seperating from the front of the spine. Boy, and thought the chinese printed books were bad, hopefully there's less typos in it than the 1st edition books.

This is really disapointing. I hope there's a replacement program out there. I'm sure I'll love the rules, but once again another Mongoose QC issue has really put a damper on this launch. I and my friends have been burned too many times, I'm going to have to make a mental note not to buy a first release Mongoose product again.

Unfortunately this can happen a lot, and not just with Mongoose; it is a global issue. In order for all the kinks to be worked out some of the earlier ones have to suffer a little. Only infrequently does it all go according to plan first time round. All we can do is be patient and trust that the good people of Mongoose are doing all they can, and from what experience I've had dealing with them they are more than aware that the customers drive their buisness and thereby will do what they can when they can. Although yes, I can see how recieving a poor quality book after looking forward to it for so long can be frustrating.

Still no book, preordering not seeming such a great idea at the moment.
Rather than getting it early three weeks have passed and I've still not got a copy. It's currently holding back all of my gaming group from ordering new toys as we want to see what's changed.
Especially irksome as other people all other the place seem to be getting theres. Still considering some of the quality issues maybe it's worth the wait.

Funny, out of all the books I've ever bought, this is the first to have this many problems and to start falling apart within a few days.

Speaking of which, while reading the rulebook saturday night, the first 6 pages have seperated from the spine just by laying the book flat.

So is there some sort of return policy for these books?

Mongoose have dropped into any number of threads where someone has a complaint asked them to contact them to deal with a replacement.

IIRc there is some discussion about contact emails earlier in this thread, they may be the right place, if not they should be able to redirect you.

Yup just checked sales@mongoosepublishing.com seems to get replies that are helpful (its the one I have used for any queries and others have stated they use it too)

I'm in the same situation as you, haven't recieved the book yet and as a result have had to put back my campaign. Most irritating, but considering the printing issues it may well be a blessing in disguise.

Hope so. Part of me just wants to play though. My entire groups been waiting for a month now I'd almost rather have a duff copy on time as at least we'd be able to play and they could have sorted out a working replacement later. Kinda selfish I suppose as it'd cost them twice as much, but I paid for this 2 - 3 months ago and I could have bought it in a shop by now (and am still half tempted).
Still I'm sure it'll be worth the wait and as you say at least it should be in a serviceable condition when it does turn up.

My pre order still hasn't arrived but i know it's in the post. Funny thing is the box of models i've ordered which was posted 2 days later have. Maybe today it will arrive.
