Gorn vs Romulan game 26Mar2013

We played a 1400 point fleet match up. The Gorns verses Romulan (entering cloaked). Gorn fleet moved as 3 squadrons in the following setup: 1- BCH, BDD and a DD in the left 2- DN, and a SC in the middle 3- BCC, BDD and a HDD in upper right in a flanking move. The Romulan fleet was in a tight group uncloaking on turn 3. The BCH, BDD and DD all died on that turn but did lots of damage to the NH, SP and KRC before going. The 3rd squadron hadn't fired it's plasmas and on turn 4 finished off the WE and NH and severely damaged the KRC. The Gorn DN and a BDD had ready to fire plasmas when Finlos agreed that 2x light Romulan ships and a crippled KRC with no weapons on-line could win. GORN FTW

end of turn 3 dead gorn and 1 dead Romulan, but 2 severely damaged and Romulans fired all plasmas. 3 Gorns with unfired plasmas ready to go and the DN is reloading.

Turn 4, Romulans are reloading Gorn BCC and BDD ready to unload plasmas. The HDD waited 1 turn and moved in with a reloaded DN to fire plasmas at depleted Romulan fleet. The KRC was crippled at this point the WE died and the rest of the Romulan fleet decided to leave at 16 speed.

Seems like an effective tactic is to have groups of 3, 1 heavy ship and 2 med/light come in and ripple fire the plasmas. Each turn the enemy has to save phasers to prevent damage and you always have a nasty fight. Romulan and Gorn meetings are a 2-3 turn shoot up with lots of bodys and broken ships. Thank you Finlos it was a blast (literally).

Yeah, gorn vs romulan doesnt usually lead to a good end for romulans unless they stay cloaked all game, hope for losing initiative the last turn, and only uncloak with their biggest ship as the last move of the game, unloading all plasma into a smaller ship hoping to blow it up and scrape out a minor victory.

Why didn't you include a list of the romulan fleet?

couldn't remembe Finlos fleet makeup. Besides when you play the Gorn the Romulans are just walking meat supplies for supper
