I sent a big box of Minis to Da Boss on the 25th of Oct (this year)

only to arrive this morning.

this was sent recorded delivery

does this sound a bit suspect to anyone??

Very dodgy, but at least they got there. It's kind of funny since my post office has an big video advert running constantly, stressing the importance of items getting there on time.

I for one was delighted, relieved and happy it arrived at all

While that is a long time, Recorded Delivery has no effect on delivery time, it's just the same as standard post, the difference being is it's tracked. Also, sine it incorporates proof of posting you can claim for up to 100 times the cost of a first class stamp in compensation if it goes missing but you can get that for free without paying Recorded Delivery.

Special Delivery is what guarantees* speed of delivery, but it costs a packet

*Actually it just means if they dfon't get it there in the stated time you get your money back, and there are geographical exclusions.
