Hi Guys!

Why are there no good maps over Glorantha? (or they are very hard to find)

Tons of maps over Prax, but there is more than Prax, right??? :P

There a milions and millions of sentence of Glorantha, but where are all the nice colour maps? How is it I cant find a great detailed map over Hendrikilands?

Why have this little map in the core book that you need superman vision to see stuff? I want a big FAT flashy map with rivers town and stuffs...is this really so hard to find? Does anyone have any...I am willing to pay cash for really good maps... I love this world but I WANT maps lol!!! :)

/Khamul :)

.....please :)

There are good maps out there.

Colin Driver game a demonstration of the work he has done for Moon Design at Continuum 2010 and his maps looked very good indeed.

The trouble is that Third Age Glorantha has been mapped more than Second Age Glorantha. So, previous editions of RQ and the Hero Wars/HeroQuest versions of Glorantha have had maps done in the past.

Second Age Glorantha has mainly been written by Mongoose and we all know how much they value maps.

Maybe we will get some good third party maps for Second Age Glorantha.

I'm a bit of a Map 'o'phile and must admit feeling a bit put out by the level of maps in the books, it would be really cool to have a Map Pack - rather than having to spend 20+ hours putting together myself :(
However, creating your own maps can be cool as you can create them in over rez sizes so you 'drill' down and print off sub sections of your map.
I've been building up a map of Kralorela over the course of a campaign but only the northern sections are well detailed.

I agree, a map can paint a picture of the terrain and give you a feel for the land scape of a region. A certain degree of coolness can be added if the map is stylized with the culture of the cartographer...
Orlanthi wood cut images or Kralori pictographs and calligraphy...
It all adds to the impact and look and feel... though I suppose it does come with a price tag, both monetary and time, which is why I suppose Mongoose have kept their maps pretty much basic to the point of minimalism.

I wonder if the Second Age Community would be interested in an unofficial mapping project for Glorantha...

Moon Design has an official mapping project underway which will be the most extensive and consistent cartographic project undertaken for Glorantha.

Whilst Second and Third ages have differences - some considerable, some not so - I think that any mapping projects for the Second Age, unofficial or otherwise, would do well to reach out to Moon Design via Jeff Richard and see what can be arranged and achieved. You'd be surprised at just how much of Glorantha, through its different ages, has been mapped. What's lacking is one, consistent source to bring all these maps together.

Here are some map sites. largely third age, but I think you'll be impressed by the quality of some of them

http://www.glorantha.com/new/maps.html

http://www.celtic-webs.com/glorantha/middle/maps/maps.html

http://www.nysalor.net/runequest/kartat/indexeng.html

Should be some help or inspiration!

If you can get hold of the Genertela set that Avalon Hill put out, that has many detailed maps with second age ruins marked, to give you a good guide to where to put things.

Hope this helps.

There are a lot of disconnected Gloranthan maps out there. Most are Third Age and not directly related to the Second Age background material published for MRQ, although many can be adapted.

However, you have to always remember that "Mongoose don't do maps". So best not look to "official" material. Be creative and adapt.

These should be lager too (they are in reality though...) But they are very detailed.

/K :)

Personally I much prefer maps with contour lines rather than shaded relief, easier to "read" (which is why they are generally found in the professional end of cartography).

That said they are very nice.
