Voronesh said:Well yeah, that refit only was worth it if you rolled it early on a rather virgin ship. Being allowed to ignore upgrade rolls is still used by some groups during campaigns, Dilgar city-levellers being among them.
I had that idea a while back, I still think it's a very good one. Though most people were very quick to trash it, I don't think they really considered it properly. Of course the good refits would be much more expensive than the not-so-good ones; so you could choose to either buy several small upgrades now, or save up to buy that uber one - but that ship not be as effective, and maybe get blown up, in the meantime.2nd_ed_hiffano said:makes sense to be able to ignore them. conversely what about the option to spend more xp to be allowed to choose your re-fit? that way you do get to tailor certain ships for certain roles in your fleet!

After tumbling it around in my head for the last couple weeks, I think I see where the range variance is coming from. The weapons on the Shuuka are all 2AD which is half the punch of the Shaakak. Lighter Photon Bombs means they can be fired a longer distance. Fluff-wise it makes sense.Voronesh said:The range is not a misprint. I would rate the 30" range on raid lvl queens one, but Matt has confirmed them as correct (like Drakh aft AF neutron lasers :S).
Lighter photon bombs means less fuel can be stored in them.Sulfurdown said:Lighter Photon Bombs means they can be fired a longer distance.

Don't tell me that fuel is irrelevant in space because there's no air - everyone knows ACTA space does have air, why would ships have a maximum speed otherwise
ICBM's travel further than SCUD missilesSulfurdown said:I was thinking "Lighter" as in "lower yield warhead" which would hopefully be a lower mass and so require less fuel to go the same distance or equal fuel to go a further distance.

So why is the WS Gunship's laser greater range than the WS's? That has more AD!Sulfurdown said:You've got a slight difference in the technology and purpose between the two. (Let's start with Ockham's razor)
Oh yeah, I meant WS Carrier. 24".Sulfurdown said:(I didn't think the W/S Gunship had a longer laser range?)
There is your SCUD vs ICBM. I think the Apollo is a tidge bit bigger then the Hermes and can carry the big boy missiles.Burger said:Anyway, better example is Hermes 2AD missiles range 20", Apollo 8AD missiles range 30" Bigger goes further!
