Gaim Queen ship in hyperspace

Hi, one tricky question: when a Gaim deceides to keep his only queen in hyperspace how will it affect his queen-less fleet in normal space? Shouldn't they suffer CQ and initiative penalthy?

The key word in the "Protect the Queen" special rule is fleet. If it said "on the table" instead of "in the fleet" then yes, the only queen being in hyperspace would cause -4 CQ and -3 init. But a ship in hyperspace is still considered to be in your fleet, therefore does not invoke "protect the queen".

hmm that means if you just hold one in hyperspace you can never suffer from the protect the queen problem.

but off course only in scenarios that allow that.

Yeah, keeping it in hyperspace isn't all that much different from keeping it on a corner of the table behind an asteroid field. Except you can't launch fighters in hyperspace, and can't use it as an init sink.

Hyperspace increases telepathic power, therefore a Gaim queen being able to reach her drones and wariors from hyperspace is quite conceivable.

Of course you lose the advantage of the the queen ship's fighters and emines.

I would however say since leaving the table via hyperspace is considered withdrawing, a queen ship is no longer with the fleet.

The way i would look at it is
Does a ship with command in hyperspace effect ships in play?
Not actually knowing the wording to the answer but i would say no.

Command is different, the rules say "on the table". So a Command ship in hyperspace would not grant its bonus. You also don't get the Command bonus for the initial deployment roll, whereas with a Gaim Queen, you do.

Does it still apply if say, the mini is in your pocket, close to the table ??

this one is for Hiff....

It's legal provided the ship only makes legal moves. It can't move more than 6" unless declaring "All Power To Engines". Neither can you. Good luck trying to move the rest of your fleet while observing this restriction. :D
