Friendly Fire in Mg2e?

Are there any rules that cover friendly fire in the current Mg2e rules set? A JTAS article maybe?

example; if you are shooting at an enemy engaged in close combat with a friendly, are there rules that handle the risk to the friendly if you miss?

How with autofire?
What about targets down the LoS? I know there are rules about PGHP's in this regard.

I know there is a rule about the FoF tags for weapons that say they will let the weapon fire within a meter of the tag.

If not, I am thinking I will need to create house rules.

Could have sworn there were 'firing into melee rules' but on further reflection those rules are literally in the game Melee. Which, 48 years ago, is were I got started in all this silliness... So no, I don't think there are.

It's not just the danger of a miss hitting someone unintentionally, bullets that penetrate can blow through to injure others even if the intended target was hit first, although certain types of round will reduce this there is still a chance.

You are not wrong, but for my Traveller, I probably would limit how much I would try to model this in the game. There is such a thing as too much realism. Still for bigger rounds or AP, I could see applying this somehow. Maybe doing a "collateral hit" roll and applying the previous victim's body as -2 DM cover and some degree of + protection vs damage. The previous victim's armor could count twice. (in then out)

Something untoward should happen if you roll snake eyes.
I agree but I think Companion handles that with the mishap table. Snake-Eyes will always be bad, but I am thinking there is extra risk involved if you open up full auto on your buddy's combat dance partner and your buddy previously refused to wear his FoF tag because it didn't go with his ensemble.

Not quite what you want, but:
HG'22, p104:
FIRING INTO DOGFIGHTS
Dogfights can rapidly devolve into massive furballs compacted into tiny areas of space, a nightmare for the pilots involved and a tense situation for craft further away who are attempting to attack targets within. Picking out individual targets without accidentally hitting a fast-moving friendly craft can be extremely difficult.

Ships not involved in a dogfight can attempt to attack targets that are engaged within it but do so with DM-4 to their attack rolls.

If the Referee permits it, such attacks can be attempted without this penalty but before the attack roll is made, roll 1D. If the result is even, the attacker selects the target as normal. If the result is odd, then the defender can select any craft involved in the dogfight to be the target, even if it is friendly to the attacker!

Needless to say, employing this kind of free-fire tactic is not standard Imperial Navy policy.

Field Catalogue, p9 has a discussion about the opposite problem: acting on the outside world while engaged in combat.

A GM would be within their rights to apply the rules for Effect to friendly fire and especially firing into melee, but nothing is codified.

1e had deviation rules for grenades that weren't carried forward to 2e. I found their absence inexplicable and continue to use them.

I use scatter diagram from old gdw striker

I did find this in 1e:

Firing into Combat
If a character is firing a weapon at a target who is at Personal range to another combatant, then the attack suffers a –2 DM. If the attack misses, roll 1d6. On a 4+, the attack hits the nearest other combatant to the original target.
