I need to get VaS stats for the Italian Bande Nere light cruiser class.

Is there any formula that's applied? I would be greatful if someone could guide me through it.

Bande Nere - Class of 4 completed 1931.
Displacement 5,110 tons
Speed 36.5 knots
Armour 2" Belt, 1" Deck
Armament
8 x 6"
6 x 100mm
8 x 37mm
8 x 13.2 mm

Cheers
Paul

Hi there,

We'll be publishing the formulae we used in the VaS supplement (though we will likely preview it in S&P, so you won't have too long to wait!).

::ears perk up:: whats this about a supplement? If you aint publishing my precious(Surcouf) in S&P it damn well better be in that supplement!

Is there any hint as to when the Supplement will be available? Or how much?

I have one chapter kinda sketched out and completely unplaytested :)

Not soon, but not too far away either. I'll have a better idea in a couple of weeks or so. . .

^They sound good but won't be in the supplement. WWI requires a whole new game. There's still a whole lot that needs to be covered for WWII.

Gunnery and fire control limitations, ship size and design, armour schemes, tactics (esp. light forces), limited aircraft, etc.

We all know that game mechanics wouldn't be THAT different. Lets admit that. We all know the real reason is that the WW2 ships would crush the WW1 equivalents.

Actually, some tweaking of armour values, penetration & ranges might mean the two sets of stats worked on a different scale - otherwise all the WW1 ships might have Armour 1 or 2, and Weak weapons! That alone would make the two rulesets incompatable.

I think we've done sufficient analysis of the data involved to confirm that the scales will have to be different.

So at Jutland a Queen Elizabeth was the queen of the sea, modern, fast, powerful and well protected. By 1940 they were old and tired with obsolescent and marginal protection though still a decent but not cutting edge main battery. I would still like to see a G3 versus the Bismarck though.

It does sound a bit counterintuitive to rescale everything but it works for me. Otherwise carried to the extreme you might have to have a system that can cope with everything from the Spanish Armada to the third Gulf War. That would be just plain silly, interesting, but silly.

Yeah, I don't think a d6 based system has enough diversity options to cover both WWI and WWII.

Maybe VaS 2E someday will be d10 or d12 based so that you get a HUGE range of ships available and can play anything with an ISD of 1900 - 1945!. That would rock!!
